United Workers Party statement: Peoples Parliament

UWP political leader Ron Green

It is painfully clear that the Skeritt Dominica Labour Party has zero intention of addressing any of Dominica’s democratic concerns and is now content, with no deception, on moving further towards dictatorship when their Annual Delegates Conference in Grand Fond, involving senior officials of this once respected party, passes resolutions  condemning  the Peoples Parliament and seeks complete silencing of opposition voices on DBS.

The discussion and passing of such backward and repressive resolutions under the guidance of Skeritt  is further indication of a dangerous, dictatorial and illegal prime minister seeking to extend his power, silence opposition and further threaten the freedom and livelihood of the people of Dominica.

Patriotic and honest Labourites should be ashamed.

The Peoples Parliaments they are seeking to shut down have been successfully held seven times, starting a year ago at Harlem Plaza, the most recent a month ago in Bataca.  Dominicans of all political persuasions, in all corners of the country, have had full and open opportunity to listen to, question, propose and express their local and national concerns, outshining the biased, fraudulent and restrictive National Parliament.

I wish therefore, on behalf of the United Workers Party to announce the holding of the 8th PEOPLES PARLIAMENT scheduled for the Roseau North Constituency on Thursday 17th March at 7:30 pm.   All are invited.

We are not shaken by the misguided antics of a desperate leader.  We will continue to stand tall for our rights, our democracy, and our peoples fullest participation and engagement in cleaning up our country, and restoring pride, dignity and adherence to the rule of law.

Ronald Green, Political Leader

This party (uwp) is a disgraceee….Before i left dominica was the first time i was at the age to vote and i went and voted for this party bec they promised they would get jobs for young people, yeah rightttt… They were looking out for just their family and friends. This party has no real vision. I mean if you are in opposition and want to get in power show the people what you can do, come up with a ligitimate plan, not every damn week the same shit, they say, she say and a bunch of petty talks about the pm and his personal life etc. Every so called minister in that party is by-polar, and living in a bubble. The dude from salisbury i thought he would have made an educated decisiion and get out while he can but he is just following these sheeps in wolves clothing… That party as long as they have all these idiots as part of the party people will NEVER vote them in… I mean seriously after allll that crap going on you really think U W P can govern dominica, talk about sinking a ship. The party in power is not perfect but they are doing what they can, when i go home i see the change. Yes it is getting done slowly but all the same it’s happening. I listen to people bash the pm, some of them are flip flopers and i just smdh because i realise they are out of touch and have a personal vendetta against the prime minister not the labor party, mind you most of them if they were in his place they would be trying to get rich on the tax payers.. But as they say, cai lavie. Life must go on, but one thing i know U W P ain’t getting back in power anyyyy time soon so who vex kick rocks… i’m outttt

Mr. Green is simply paranoid. he and his cohorts are at a lost to fathom the fact that despite their every machination, their every move, their daily toil and sweat after one man, their escapades to paint the Pm green, he continue to be admired and loved by the VAST MAJORITY OF THE MASSES. Ron Green and the UWp did not beleive what they saw in Grand Fond last week.

A resolution was put to the conference asking that the party condemn what the UWP call the “People’s Parliament”. What is wrong with that? Waht is the people’s parliament anyway? It is simply an activity of the UWP. The UWP is on record tarnishing the Prime Minister’s personal image. he is called thief, corrupt, illegal Prime Minister, etc etc without let. there is every indication that this onslaught will continue. The UWP finds no problem with that. One aspect of the resolution called for the state radio (DBS) to ban carrying any news item coming out of the people’s parliament. That was someone’s, party group’s opinion. Wahtis wrong with that. Skerrit had nothing whatsoever to do with that. The conference rejected that part of the resolution and in fact voted for the continued coverage of the people’s parliament. This demonstrates a high level of maturity and respect for divergent views by the party heirachy. mr. skerrit was part of that decision as a voting delegate. What is wrong with Mr. Green? Why the loud cry? Who hit you? I suspect Ron is crying because he was very disappointed in the massive turn out at what is really supposed to be a closed door activity for delegates. After all they are trying. But their strategy that is built around Lennox, Matt, Angelo, Thompson, Gabou etc is simply not working. It is turningh people off. Can’t they see that? It is a failed plan.

Ron stop making a fool of yourself at every turn you make. wait for ther outcome of the court case. You might just go home celebrating. who knows?

Ron is a very dangerous man and he is getting very desperate. Be aware dominicans, be aware!!!

  7. Just giving my two cents
    February 17, 2011

Accordingly, it seems that the most IMPORTANT ISSUE RIGHT NOW which came from the DLP weekend gathering is that the DLP “passes resolutions condemning the Peoples Parliament and seeks complete silencing of opposition voices on DBS”

If that is the item that should be most talked about, most media – cized and most proclaimed by the UWP, then I must say – come next Election they deserve to be ELIMINATED.

I am so sick and tired of this divisiveness, this constant attacking of the PM, this always attempting to incite RIOT, rather than the FRUITFUL ideas which I keep expecting to be brought forward.

I am not pro Labour nor am I pro UWP. I’ll say it again – I am PRO DOMINICA. Dominica is mine too whether or not I live outside its walls. I will say it again – I saw improvements in Dominica that I never anticipated nor expected. I do not know the history or background of these improvements, but I SAW THEM. And I’m guaranteed that other people have seen them.

So all in all whether Skerritt be ILLEGAL or LEGAL…Dominica HAS changed and HAS improved visually. What I want to see is JUSTICE- that meted out by the COURTS. I do not want to see no UWP justice because it is all one-sided. Apparently what is good for the goose is not good for the gander in their eyes. And if the Constitution and its laws are so vital to the continuance of DEMOCRACY in Dominica, then they should respect the COURT which has the right to ensure that the CONSTITUTION and its LAWS are followed.

The UWP is nto the CONSTITUITON, the LAW, or the COURTS. They need to let the INNOCENT until proven GUILTY, as established by the law, to take its course.

I want a better Dominica and if it means Skerro has to go, so BE IT. But the alternative UWP is definitely not looking like a VIABLE option.
They do not offer any solutions, any ideas…NOTHING, all they offer is a bunch of SHIT coming from every crook and cranny.

Dominicans are not stupid – poor people, the ones who voted for Skerro are not stupid. Ron’s bread is buttered and at the end of the day, no matter how much he and the UWP complains, if they do not help butter the poor man’s bread – then they have no chance of success.

Dominica is all about the haves and have nots, where the haves do not recognise that in this democracy – it’s the HAVE NOTS who make the decision as to who RULES the people.

So with all the talk about the illegal pm, silencing on DBS radio, and the condemnation of a Peoples Parliament – the question remains – which “people” are Ron and the UWP representing?

And tell Brisbane to go and take care of his company so that it does not collapse and put people out of work. The the the President’s House will be owned by Dominica not Rossevelt Skerrit. Think of the country. Think of the people. Forget your egoes.

    February 16, 2011

If one has to believe Mr. Green, he once occupied a position in parliament and the cabinet of the Commonwealth of Dominica, because of his dual citizenship his occupation of those offices can be considered ilegal. This Holier than thou attitute of Mr. Green and the UWP shows the arrogant and elitist nature of the leadership of this once well intentioned party. Who is Mr. green to refer to Skeritt as an ilegal PM. What may I ask is his moral authority to take such a position when he himself is guilty of doing the same thing? Is it because of his SKIN TONE?..Are we reverting to the days when the lighter your skin the better you chances of landing a job in the civil service or the banks? Peoples Parliament is an excuse by the UWP not to attend the real Parliament, as the party believes that the people who voted for the DLP are a bunch of idiots and that they (UWP) is the only party ordained by the almighty to govern Dominica. The UWP speaks of electorial reform, why was it not done before calling early elections in 2000.. Every time Mr. Green opens his mouth he exposes the deceit of his party..

Where ignorance is bliss as it is in Dominica it is a folly to be wise.. Lord close their begging hands and open their minds and their eyes.. Alas, Alas, Alas, what a generation of morons we have in Dominica now. My great grandfather would weep for Dominica if he could see Dominican people 150 years after his death.. They has regressed in their values, their thinking, they went back to the jungle..
Mr. Green your task is daunting maybe even impossible ! Dominicans are now on the animal farm, and they love it there!

    • Disappointed Dominican
      February 20, 2011

Well I couldn’t agree more. Dominicans’ level of ignorance and moronic fortitude amazes me. Our loyalty to party and personalities over COUNTRY is of the dark ages.
So what if your family were labourites or freedomites or what ever? So what that the Prime Minister is from Marigot, LaPlaine, or Mahaut, as long as that person and party has the interest of the country at heart should be all that matters.
Dominica has lost sooo many great opportunities, and all because of the ignorance of it’s small minded people. Even those who travel the world, still cant grow out of this malaise for some reason. We’re the same colour and race, yet we’re still biased against each other, especially by region.
It’s a real shame, let’s hope the future generations will out grow this sickness.
To a more intelligent and critically thinking populace. Keeping hope alive.

Not that I’m saying in is but we just don’t know what the sentencing will be so we cannot speculate on that if he is found guilty. What a joke! When will the UWP realize no one wants to hear them cry and complain while Dominica is developing. I’m sure the same 100 persons that attended the “grand rally” in Roseau and the other UWP failed attempts at destabilizing the government will be at the next UWP joke of a parliament. But that will be all.
