ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – The leader of the main opposition United Workers Party (UWP) Ron Green has lost the La Plaine constituency following a recount on Saturday.
Lawyers for the party confirmed that Green, who according to the preliminary results had polled 727 votes to 715 for Petter Saint-Jean of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), had now lost the seat by two votes following the recount.
The preliminary results had given the DLP 17 of the 21 seats that were contested in the general election on Friday.
Green was among the four victorious UWP candidates, according to the preliminary count.
