Newly named United Workers Party (UWP) candidate for the Mahaut constituency, Felix “Feelo” Thomas, will hit the road this Saturday in what has been dubbed “Feelo for Maho” whistle stops.
The campaign which will begin from Les Point at 10:00 am will feature the new candidate and will cover the entire Mahaut constituency.
According to a release on Friday afternoon, the campaign from Les Pointe will proceed to Massacre, then move on to Checkhall, River Estate, Canefiel, onward to Sylvania, Desport, Layou Park, Warner, Jimmit, Belfast, Mahaut and will end with a public meeting at Tarou at 6:00 pm.
Thomas said that he looks forward to meeting the people of his constituency, hearing from them and sharing with them his and the UWP’s vision for changing the Mahaut Constituency.
“My Vision for development of the Mahaut Constituency is to see Mahaut become the third commercial and industrial centre of Dominica, where there will be enough good jobs for the people of the Mahaut constituency,” he said in Friday’s release. “The Mahaut constituency is one of the largest constituencies of Dominica and is strategically located for business, agriculture, sports and entertainment.”
He added further that along with Team Dominica, he intends to create an integrated development plan for the various hamlets.
“The pillars of the Mahaut plan will be agriculture, tourism, industrial development, shipping and port development, ICT, entertainment and sports,” Thomas noted. “This will include but not limited to sports and recreation, culture and heritage, music, agriculture, landscaping and beautification, mining , fishing, agro processing and manufacturing.”
He stated that these ideas will bring about “rapid entrepreneurial development, job creation, empowerment of locals and productivity and growth in the national economy.”
Thomas said that he is humbled and grateful to the people of the Mahaut constituency for selecting him as the UWP representative.
“I aim to make Mahaut a thriving commercial and industrial jobs center with first priority being for the people of the Mahaut constituency,” he stated.

Today, I look at my friend Felix putting his name up for elected office and say to myself this is a courageous man. I say the later because before the month is up someone is going to find numerous negative things to say about him and his family. I say these things with tremendous disappointments of how we have evolve as a people lacking the respect be it opposition or governing supporters. I know politics has had some level of name calling, but never in my lifetime have I seen it gotten that nasty.
A few days ago I heard someone commenting on they know a particular coworker does not support the ruling party and I ask myself whether we are in a democracy. I mean the very nature of my name being used as a dummy name is part of the fear invoked by the limited tolerance in our society today, and not one mature individual from both party will join hands and say let’s meet on such and date to show solidarity against hateful campaigns. What is really the big deal with men/women saying enough is enough? Well, I am asking for the leaders in other areas of our society (Church Pastors, Priest, Engineers, Lawyers, Doctors, Teachers and others) to form a group to eradicate this moral decay of our society. Are we going to say this does not concern me or my family? Are we going to concern ourselves with the lower clients or contracts if we join such a group that will lower our revenue; is this more important? Or are we going to wait to accumulate our wealth and spend it just quickly to provide security for ourselves and family? Trinidad is not too far from our country and I have many friends who are fearful to travel back to their country in fear of being killed senselessly. This message is one that is appealing to everyone to take a step back and see where this country is going and to ask ourselves whether we are going to make people with their individual ambitions take us down the deep end of crime, violence and extreme poverty. Dominica, is not one person and so we need to demand better of anyone who represent us and to unmask this God complex people attain when they become members of parliament; after all they are five years from being unemployed and therefore nobody is better than the next person.

It would appear, the Skeritt led DLP has not yet found an answer as to how to stop UWP Team Dominica led by Mr. Lennox Linton. After the twenty one in twenty five and the five in five, the DLP said it was only a passing cloud and not a rain storm, well ,it is still raining popularity. Propaganda and political mapuis will not work. There are many countries in the Carribbean which have recuited Mr. Linton to run their campagnes and has done a tremendous job, what do you expect him to do with his own. Remember the days of DBS radio, the man with the master plan, I understood he has teamed up with Mr. Lennox Linton, what a combination.
