UWP prepares list of questions for parliament

A view of the House of Assembly

For what’s expected to be their first full session now that they are ending their boycott of the parliament, MPs of the opposition United Workers Party have come up with a list of questions they want the government to respond to when the House of Assemby meets on Thursday.

The questions include a request for information re the marketing of agricultural produce, a query about Petro Caribe debt and consumer prices,  and a question dealing with financial assistance for farmers.

The UWP parliamentarians are also seeking answers about diplomatic appointments, asking for among other things, the names and nationalities of all persons who have been appointed to diplomatic positions since 2004, and the dates on which these appointments were made.

Altogether the opposition MPs want answers to some ten questions.

Among reports being presented to parliament is that of the National Telecommunications regulatory Commission.

The House will also get to take a look at the Invest Dominica Authority’s Financial Statements for the year ended June 30th, 2011.

The Integrity Commission’s report will also feature there.

Among bills expected to get attention during the sitting is a 2012 insurance act, and an act to amend the social security act.

The marriage act is also down to be amended.

Government business also includes the prime minister focusing the attention of the House on some three matters – one of them, the Schedule of Supplementary Appropriation the first quarter 2011/2012.

Another deals with water company DOWASCO.

I RECALL DOMINCA being dedicatd as a christian NATION..THE FREINDS AND SURROGATES OF THE PM are men of the CHRISTIAN FAITH ..WE CANNOT FORGET THAT THE CHURCH WAS AND DOES HAVE A DIRECT CONNECTION WITH ADORING PASTORS ONE OF WHOM DEDICATED HIS LAST BOOK TO SKERRITT .
SO I TRUST AND HOPE THAT THE CHANGE IN THE MARRIAGE LAWS IS NOT TO DECLARE DOMINICA GAU LAND and territory for the MCS of the world to flock to get their marriage license and gamol openly as was the case at EMARALD POOL for our innocent children to see sodom live and direct …
what about the marriage of our fore fathers which need changing ?
REMEMBER WITH NO PUBLIC DISCUSSION OR DEBATE THE SKERRITT ADMINISTRAYTTION MADE DOMINCA the sole OECS COUNTRY TO VOTE AT THE UN DECLARING GAY RIGHTS !!!!

I am concerned as a tax-paying citizen that my money is being used to fund the medical bills of parliamentarians. Please opposition speak-up on this. I don’t mind one way or another where assistance is provided to those who cannot afford but not $100 000 of our money to the likes of Charles Savrin. You really trying to tell me that he could not afford his medical bills; that he has no medical insurance? Government pilfering our money for persons who can afford!! I am so pissed. Today, tomorrow I need some serious medical attention, I cranana but the likes of Savrin and the others don’t even have to blink? See how long they trying to raise enough funds for that girl from Wesley..hmm?!

It would appear from your comments that your school days were spent underneath a mango tree, or that you have not lived on this planet at all. But again what can one expect from the yardfowls of the Disfunctional criminal enterprise headed by Skerritt that passes for a government in Dominica?

I wonder what are they going to do with the marriage act? Sure hope they’re not gonna allow dogs and pigs to get married, but that they’d strengthen it to protect families and civilized society.

See what I mean. They stay out so long and now they want everything answered in one day. And why is it in the media before it is even discussed? What is with the unprofessionalism people? Come on. Go, have the discussions, gather your evidence, fight as the opposition for the dcan people. Then let us know what wad put forward and the responses. But why question the government through the media and then in the house as well. You all already claim they hiding things, so why give them a head start on what you going to ask for them to hide more? Then you all will come and complain. Just deal with the thing professionally. And by the way, I don’t support neither party but thanks for going back to parliament. Dominica needs it

UWP did you guys confided in PJ as to what questions should be asked. The answers to those questions have been well documented. When UWP read them what next, blame the speaker because they have nothing better to offer Dominicans.

I can see them carrying on with their same old childish ways in Parliament and when reprimanded by the Speaker they will claim the same old victimisation ploy and take their boo hooing to another level until some young forward thinking persons with fresh ideas take hold of the reins of the party and save it from becoming a national circus.

Not a bad start, stay pro-active and represent your constituency with honors. Be a proud Representative for the whole country and don’t be bias in your analysis of the legislative process. Quickly report or make public of any unconstitutioal action taken by any member of the House to include those of your Party. Remember, this is for a better Dominica.

I can understand. They must have a 3 year back-log of questions. It’s only that they were taking these to the ‘Rum Shop People’s Parliament’. I wonder if they will still be able to retrieve all of them. Anyway, good luck clowns and welcome back to the real people’s parliament. Hope you stay put this time around!!!Lol.
