UWP prepares peaceful protest in the wake of CARICOM Heads meeting

The United Workers Party (UWP) has planned a peaceful picket for tomorrow afternoon at 4, near the venue for the 21st Intersessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government carded for the Fort Young Hotel.

At a press conference organised by the Movement to Restore Democracy (MRD), UWP leader Ron Green is dissatisfied with the manner in which the local media contact dealt with their request for information on the event.

“We did request information regarding the CARICOM meeting scheduled for Thursday and the plan for the next two days from one of the officers that’s been assigned Mervin Paul and he refused the information to the United Workers’ Party. Dave Bruney was the one who made that request of him yesterday … it’s very interesting to see we have CARICOM leaders in Dominica they’ve assigned information and the information is being refused; basic information regarding the meeting,” he said.

Green is of the view that the issues being raised about their concerns of General Elections are being taken “too lightly” by persons and community leaders.

“We need to wake up,” he stated.

He said they will meet on the Bay Front at the entrance of the Garraway Hotel for the picket, adding “our people are concerned and our CARICOM leaders need to know.”

Now Ron Green is blaming the media for not getting information? Who else is he going to blame? Next thing he is going to blame DNO for something they know nothing about!

Has this man lost his mind?

If his grievances about the elections are before the courts why the demonstration? This is embarrassing, to say the least.

Footnote: Thanks DNO team for the extensive coverage of this subject matter. You guys are doing an excellent job. Keep it up.

To all the disgruntled people who are trying their best to stunt the growth of the island, stop, think and ask yourself one question. Are my actions self-seeking or do I hold the interest of the island at heart? In case you haven’t notice, we are far more under developed than our neighboring islands. We need to continue the forward movements of the island and stop this political nonsense, which could ultimately lead to unrest on the island.

“No man is an island.” For the people who are upset at the current state of affairs, there will be another election, and you will have the opportunity to choose the officials who best represent your constituency. ……… Now is certainly not the time for regression…….. Let us continue moving the country forward.

rubbish. these ppl need to stop this madness. so many pressing matters to be dealt with and these ppl just rambling on and creating distractions. Labour wins at the polls was a righteous one and the independent observers testified to that fact. now UWP chose to stay out of parliament and thus they have no official political status in the country. nobody is obligated in anyway to provide information to UWP or any other illegitimate organization seeking to bring political instability to the institution of government in Dominica.
I strongly suggest that the authorities round up and jail any participant or organizer of this picketing for violation and disturbance of the public order.

I believe the big question is: WHEN WILL THE DULY ELECTED GOVERNMENT OF DOMINICA CHARGE THESE IDIOTS FROM THE MOVEMENT OF RETARDED DOMINICANS (MRD) WITH TREASON?

Why is the Dominican media giving this nonsense so much coverage anyway? Is not that this is anything new. These guys are bent on creating trouble and civil unrest in the country, but this will NEVER happen because the people of Dominica are smarter than that!!!!!

Why does these intelligent people like embarassing themselves like that? Can some one tell me? They tried it in St Kitts nothing came out of it, they are planning it tomorrow? have they seek permission? Do you have an opposition and leader? So who or what is Dave Bruney to question Mervin Paul about CARICOM business? If they wanted to be involved they should have done the rghtfull thing and seat there but in the Honorable House of Parliament and take their Oaths and be counted. Stay outside in the Yard, where you all belong.

    Ron,

What is your stress? Why do you allow yourself to be so fooled by the man who knows netter than you. Where in the world do you know about that information about the program and itinerary of visitng leaders is made public? What is your stress with the information not being made available to you? Isn’t the information a security matter?. Does Mervin Paul have the information you are requesting?

Ron, you lost the election. Let those (Eddy, Norris and Sprags) who won – fairly and squarely speak on and about on a “bad electoral”list. Stop making a F …..l of yourself whilst Eddy smiles from jaw to jaw in the realization that you are really dirtying your water”” with the people who matters – those who spoke on December 18 2009.

How much more can we allow these fellas to embarrass us. You are dissatisfied with the election results, you are dissatisfied with the way the gov’t is running the country, take it up with the govt. Protest against them, not outside the meeting, which is the FIRST time Dominica is hosting it.
