Readers have chosen the Agriculture industry as the best choice for Government to investment in the most, in order to boost the country’s economy.
Two hundred and fourteen votes (50%) were awarded to the Agriculture industry, while 192 votes (45%) were made towards the Tourism industry. Five votes (one percent) went to the Craft industry and 16 votes (four percent) reflected the opinion of readers who think no investments should be made in neither of these industries.

Its interesting what most people have voted for. But one must be aware of the recent study conducted by Dr Owen Aurthur. In his report Dominica Failed miserable in all aspects and not least our Human Resource Capacity and Capability. Managing an economy is like managing one’s household. And there has been many calls for reform and for new policies and new strategies to cope with the changing global environment. Even if we put in money and we and resources into the various ministries and we do not plan and monitor and manage these effectively we will continue going deeper into the trade deficit which we presently face. The human resource of any nation is the most important and serious attention has to be placed in these areas in the various ministries. Government may say that they do not have the financial resources to invest in quality labor but the long run effect of those investments is going to be more beneficial than just looking just ahead. As the old saying goes “freeness is worryness” we should take heed and get the best of a country which is rich in knowledge and expertise to take Dominica to the next level.
