The President of Dominica, Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton, DAH, is leading a prominent delegation from Dominica to the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) taking place in New York. President Burton is scheduled to speak to the General Assembly on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 25. This session is centered around the theme “Leaving no one behind: acting together for the advancement of peace, sustainable development, and human dignity for present and future generations.”
During this gathering, global leaders will evaluate the progress achieved regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), explore strategies to address recent worldwide challenges, and review three key documents aimed at shaping future development: the ‘Pact for the Future,’ the ‘Global Digital Compact,’ and the ‘Declaration on Future Generations.’
The Dominican delegation at UNGA 2024 comprises First Gentleman Mr. Gilbert Burton; Honourable Dr. Vince Henderson, Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy; H.E. Philbert Aaron, Dominica’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations; H.E. Kelver Darroux, Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations; Consular Sheldon Peter Anthony; and Assistant Superintendent of Police Valda Powell. In President Burton’s absence, Her Excellency Josette Matthew will serve as Acting President of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
I suspect she was going to make a fool of herself, but I discover based on the submissions of others that this lady’s diction and the English grammar is like that of a kindergarten student.
She lacks comprehension of the English language, hence if she wrote the words as she pronounced them, she’s an embarrassment to herself, and has not done anything that draws attention to Dominica, in a positive way but rather brought disgrace on our nation!
She is not the only one to disgrace Dominica anyway, I once heard Henderson comment on some project that was costing ” townson, or townsand” of dollars. I cannot believe the man does not know the word is “thousand” which is a number equivalent to the product of a hundred and ten; 1,000!
Any wonder that Dominica, is the most undeveloped nation in the Western Hemisphere, with the likes Roosevelt and his president, Austrie, and Henderson who are unable to express themselves in the English language!

What kind of high level delegation is coming out of Dominica going to the United Nations? Sylvanie, I would hope that your and your entourage take as many photographs when it is your time to speak hopefully not in patios, or in your silly Dominica crying and dragging accent.
Be sure to take pictures of the practically empty room which may consists of a few very poor African nations, and a few other less developed nations as Dominica, delegates talking crap!

The UN has become just an iconic symbol of uselessness. They don’t solve conflicts there anymore. It was on e revered for its ability to ‘extinguish fires all over the world. Now it’s a great talk shop.
