PSS and NECS advance in inter-secondary schools debating competition

The Portsmouth Secondary School (PSS) is one of two schools that emerged as winners of the second segment of the first round of the inter-schools’ debate competition–the other is North-East Comprehensive School.

Rowain Christopher and Tirjhai Larocque represented the PSS and accumulated 552 points. Christopher also won Best Speaker.

They went up against the Covent High School (CHS) which was represented by Keara Gardier and Shantay Avril. They received 507 points.

The topic was “there is inherent discrimination against fathers in our social, financial, and religious systems.”

The PSS opposed and the CHS proposed.

Meantime, at the PSU the North-East Comprehensive School (NECS) won against the Dominica Grammer School (DGS) during another debating competition.

For the Proposing Side (DGS) the first Speaker was Rashad Paul and the second Speaker was Dayanna Spott.

For the Opposing Side (NECS) the first Speaker was Tiana Smith and the second was Kyra Parker.

DGS accumulated 570 while NCES received 665 points.

The best speaker was Kyra Parker.

    Hey, congrats to all the students who participated!! I am Happy for the return of the inter school debate. NECS… Show them how it’s done!! Keep on pushing 💪!!
