Lula da Silva (Center) and Browne (far right) with agreement

Antigua and Barbuda, and Brazil have taken a significant step towards strengthening their bilateral relations by signing an Air Service Agreement.

The agreement was signed during the VIII Community of Latin America and Caribbean States (CELAC) summit in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, signed the agreement after holding talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The primary objective of this agreement is to promote further economic cooperation between the two nations through increased trade and investment opportunities.

President Lula took advantage of the opportunity to announce that Brazil would be reopening its Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda, thus affirming its commitment to deepening relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Browne welcomed the news of the embassy reopening and highlighted Antigua and Barbuda’s intention to establish a presence in Brazil.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Browne extended an invitation to President Lula to attend the International Conference on Small Island Developing States, which is scheduled to take place in Antigua and Barbuda from May 27 to 30, 2024.

This move is a significant step towards enhancing the relationship between these two nations and promoting regional development.
