Aristide set to return to Haiti today

Haiti’s exiled ex-president Jean-Bertrand Aristide plans to fly home on Thursday, days before the Caribbean nation’s crucial election, a senior South African official told AFP.

“The president is due to take a flight out Thursday afternoon,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity, adding that Aristide was expected to give a news briefing before his departure.

“The details of the route will be given at the briefing,” the official added.

The charismatic Aristide, Haiti’s first democratically elected president, has been exiled in South Africa since being forced from power by an armed rebellion more than seven years ago.

The United States has urged Aristide not to return to Haiti before Sunday’s presidential run-off election.

    I will briefly and simply state I wish Aristide all the best. Godspeed. There really is no place like home. Indeed! Home is where the heart is. May Haitians appreciate him. May God protect him.

    Finally!! Three men: Preval, Duvalier and Aristide have among themselves, the historical and resource documents of Haiti. These documents contain the details as regards the locations, quantity and economic potential for the country`s development. This is the start of the rebirth of the first black republic in the Western Hemisphere; after a period of reconciliation and forgiveness, the nation can once again take its rightful place in the schemes of things.
    They may SEPARATE but not DIVIDE us!!!
