Barber accused of shaving ‘fool’ on Jamaican’s head

A barber accused of shaving the word “fool” in the head of a Jamaican man with learning difficulties has been charged with assault.

According to the Stamford Mercury in Britain, the barber, Michael Campbell, 35, from Hartcliffe, Bristol has denied a charge of assault and one charge of failure to answer bail.

Allegations are that the barber shaved the word “fool” on to the back of the head of the customer, who has “severe learning difficulties”.

It was artistic of him to be able to spell a word with hair. But the thing he did to the man’s head showed disrespect and its very inhumane.

Getting a hair cut in Bristol is always a risky proposition. The barber just couldn’t spell, it was meant to read POOL but his hand slipped and he hoped no-one would notice.

    Ah well!

Thats my barber. He is normally a nice guy. It’s Disappointing that he did that. They should not shut the shop though, as the other barbers are not to blame.

It is amazing what nice people could do. There are two sides to people, good and bad. We perceive them to be nice and good people because they are friendly. As the saying, “Who knows what lurks in the heart of man.” He really should not have done such a thing. It is demeaning to the man and to his family.
People who are handicapped or physically challenged are not fools. Some of them were brilliant people and some of them are brilliant people.
You reside in the UK? I reside in Canada. I heard on the US and local Canadian news that a US woman and no doubt some accomplices held a few people hostage in a dirty basement and ill-treated them. The man was chained so that he could not escape. It was stated that they are mentally ill. The intent was to collect their social assistance (whatever it is called) allowance.
Finally, the perpetrators were caught. Their lot will be imprisonment for a certain length of time.
One of them, a man recounted what he experienced. One of them, a woman did likewise. I wondered are those people really mentally challenged and to the fullest?
We must never underestimate people even though they appear not to have all their faculties as we do. They are people too and deserve to be treated humanely, just as we expect from others.

We never know what strange news we will read and hear about. I had to laugh at what the barber did but it really is no laughing matter that the barber made a mockery of a disabled person. He took advantage of the disabled man’s vulnerability. What could cause him to even think of that and to do such a thing? His action depicted dislike including lack of respect for the man. He deserves to be punished and to lose his barber’s license. He should also be imprisoned for some months; also to perform community work. He should also be told to formally apologize to the man and his family.
