Caribbean islands warned as Venezuela collapses

Venezuelans protesting over lack of food and medicine, water and electricity confronted by police
Venezuelans protesting over lack of food and medicine, water and electricity confronted by police

The mayor of Chacao in Venezuela’s capital Caracas has warned that Caribbean islands and Colombia may suffer an influx of refugees from Venezuela if food shortages continue in the country.

Español Ramón Muchacho said that people have been reduced to hunting cats, dogs and pigeons for food.

“As hunger deepens, we could see more Venezuelans fleeing by land or sea to an island,” Muchacho said.

Venezuela saw a new wave of looting last week that resulted in at least two deaths, countless wounded, and millions of dollars in losses and damages, as desperation sets in among hungry residents and the country appears to be on the verge of complete collapse and chaos.

Panampost reported that last Wednesday morning a crowd ransacked a supermarket in the central region of Venezuela.

I would like to help Aurora and rather say proudly and boldly that: “……….. The people who write these qualified comments do have a heart and a conscience, therefore please continue pray people for Dominica and that this corrupt government and their blind loyalists are not patriotic and true to the level of corruption, abuse of state funds, child sexual abuse festering in Dominica now”

Those Dominicans who see otherwise may have been blinded by blind loyalty to Skerrit and his corrupt Labour Party regime.
Dominica wake up, the country is sinking, the leader is a failure and disgrace.

Some do not think that Venezuela’s opposition could have instigated this. The organizers do not think what the result may be. Once people commence demonstrating, they become angry. Their blood gets hot and into their heads. They get worst and never cease which results in this type of situation. Some people love a demonstration/riot. The people suffer.
As the world observes, some people will blame Maduro. They want him out and will keep at it until he resigns. In the meantime more suffering and hunger ensue.
All these people could til the land and make a living for themselves even though it is only for their livelihood.
Do they not realize, “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me?”
The Lord left us His peace but there are some people who will not live in peace nor allow others to do likewise.
Not everyone in Venezuela is pleased with this and is participating in this melee. The rioters could have brought it upon themselves.

    • May 18, 2016

Please. Maduro is an incompetent thug, and anyone who’s ever studied basic economics knows this situation is the fault of his despotic regime. The sooner they’re gone, the sooner the long-suffering Venezuelan people can begin to recover.

It seems like people these day are so mentally lazy they think politics and government is soap opera. Its not social media. The prime minister is not Kim Kardashian you cannot slander and comment on government like its face book or Instagram. One country has an issue instead of discussing or offering solutions on the issue or even asking question to learn…
its Skeritt this and skeritt that and the country bad and this and that and look where he travelling to or look at what he wearing … allu are really stupid people. the sad thing is even when someone tells you you being stupid… you will continue to be stupid to your own demise.

What a shame? So much resources and total destruction. Good intentions by Chavez but no understanding of how economies work. Governments are only as strong as the resourcefulness and productivity of their people. If you destroy the middle class, the bonds of good society and then create a system of handouts and dependency then the results are total chaos and destruction.

Which is why I have encouraged the Dominican government to ‘Go back to the Future’ and create a small country of independence, hard work and self reliance.

    • UDOHREADYET
      May 18, 2016

Dominica has always been that. you cannot make people self reliant when young women and men are lazy and want quick money to buy things that have no value. the government isn’t responsible for your day to day life. the provide the security, infrastructure, the financial system, communications etc to allow people to communicate, travel, invest in themselves through education and business or employment. Most Dominicans owned land when I grew up. now they sit in rum shops or smoking weed left and right, or chasing men and women. those things cannot be your number one priority in life.

Wait, Dominican were smart enough to vote out the corruption party out in 2000, to save Dominica from total economic collapse. A big chunk was borrowed in bond floated in Trinidad then contract were given to all cronies and friends worth big money they subcontract public works for little money runaway with lajàn project start never never finish, then could not pay civil employees on time borrow from social security and all banks could not pay back, employees had to wait as much as 15 days after month end to get pay is that the kind of government you want for my Dominica again? No way. Pietro had to ask D/a people to bite the bullet put hash measures to save D/ca Rossie die Pietro die Skerro take control they call him boy’s with toys, but little do they known he knew how to play with toys and he is a blessing send by the almighty father to save Dominica. I feel very sorry for the people of Venezuela but I feel more coerced about where Dominica is heading under Skerrit, and like Venezuelans, who had many signs pointing to this mess Chavez put them in while he was alive but did nothing to change it because they loved chavez. Dominica, we can see the signs, we can see where Skerrit is leading us to a blind trip, and that we can stop. If we don’t stop Skerrit now, DA will be worse than Venezuela since we have nothing to turn to. At least Venezuela has oil but not even bananas we have. Take heed DA, because serious trouble is ahead

Possie,, who is going to pay for that? Remember the people fleeing to places like Dominica would be the destitute, people who do not have money. We joined Alba and followed papa Chavez philosophy exactly because we were poorer than Venezuela and received a lot of money in retur, well at least someone did!. A lot of rich Venezuelans decamped already and are living in Panama with their dollar accounts. There is no way we could look after Venezuelan refugees on our own.

      • May 18, 2016

The truly destitute won’t have the money to flee as far as Dominica. It’s Colombia, Guyana, and Trinidad that will bear the brunt of the refugee crisis.

Never wish bad on our country but venezuela is a result of stupid government policies and the people now paying for what government planted. Dominica will face its music sooner or later. We have 2 billion in debt don’t know how we paying, government still borrowing, country production almost non existence, and the PM insist on keeping these unsustainable social programs that are duplicate efforts of established ministries. The hope is we get damage from disasters to ask for debt forgiveness.
