One of the Caribbean’s leading medical schools has sued a former student for trademark violation and dilution, cybersquatting and breach of contract.

Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica filed a civil suit in US Federal court against a former student, Behzad Amini, claiming that the “disgruntled dropout launched more than 20 bogus websites” accusing it of corruption.

Approximately two years ago, a co-worker informed me that a Muslim young man was going to Dominica to study at the University. I was surprised and said, “Are you certain he is going to Dominica?” Then I stated: “Why would he leave Canada and go to Dominica? I had my misgivings about this person whom I did not know.
They infiltrate every corner of the world. Prior to admitting foreign students, the University should conduct a thorough investigation as also a personal assessment on them, in their country and where they resided.
Some of them will also reside in the U.S. and probably are not landed immigrants and never will. Beware of importing terrorists.

Settle this matter, because the Toronto branch is as welcoming, and may even be closer to many, do not expect our many rivers mountain and our waterfall to the be the reason those students chose Dominica…there are always two sides to every story…and do not take me wrong, yours may just be on point, may be the truth…but one man should not be allow to bring down an establishment for so long…there are laws in place….and the sooner the better…settle this once and for all….

Damaging or not, what this Amini did is totally wrong. It is also defamation of character. That man should be arrested and charged. He is scandalous.

@reign drop…the only thing Ross is looking for from this student is for him to stop making defamatory claims. Do you know how this could affect the school?!! What could Ross possibly want from one student that it cannot do for itself?

Hmmm, interesting. Seems some Ross top brass have failed to understand how dangerous many students can be.
Maybe, just maybe, this will open their eyes a little wider.
But what are they suing for? And why not defamation or some such? Curious

Some of them come as unsuspecting spies and to provide feedback to their counterparts in their land or wherever. This could be their intention. May they not invade Dominica.

No offense but Ross does not seem to look as nice as SGU in Grenada, nor are we hearing how Ross contributes to nation building. Ross should be actively involved in educational initiatives on island.

    • Nation building?
      October 24, 2013

Plenty of nation building going on…here is a quote that appeared earlier this year on DNO..

“RUSM said since its founding in 1978 it has been a committed partner with the Government of Dominica and local business leaders. ‘Each year the school makes charitable contributions to support national and local programs in education, health, culture, and sports, with particular attention to programs that improve opportunities for local youth. RUSM also provides two full scholarships annually to Dominican students who meet the university’s admissions criteria and wish to pursue a medical degree. Since 1996, RUSM has granted scholarships to 57 Dominicans, totaling EC $13.5 million,’ the school said.

The school also said it employs more than 450 full-time staff on the campus, of which nearly 70 percent are local nationals. ‘RUSM supports and encourages its employees to further their own educational goals by providing employees and their dependent spouses and children tuition benefits to complete courses at Becker Professional Education, Chamberlain College of Nursing, and DeVry University. Since 2005, 202 Dominicans have participated, with benefits totaling EC $19.4 million.’ the school said in its release.”

That’s why we will stay that way because we don’t make people pay for the action of destruction. See how the prisoners comes out more fat than me and when they have to do 10 years they do 2 years what are you telling them? your not making them pay for their crime.

    • Jayson
      October 23, 2013

Ross wants this guy shut up and shut down, plain and simple.

Weather his claims are true or false, him blabbing his mouth all over the net can be very damaging to the school and their ‘credibility’. They know that he’s not making any idle threats and that he’s willing to put in both time and money to try to destroy their reputation.

Also Ross is probably fearful that it might set a (so called) precedent for other disgruntled students as an avenue to hit back.

There’s a lot at stake here.

That dropout student is vindictive. If he had conducted himself appropriately, he would still be at Ross Un. He is obviously an unhappy person.
