Former St. Lucia Carnival Queen contestant killed

Alisha Hunte was found stabbed to death in her home Wednesday evening. Photo Credit: St. Lucia Star

The rain pelting down matched the somber mood as friends, family and curious neighbours gathered near the home of 22-year-old Alisha Hunte on Wednesday as news of her death spread fast.

In the community of Trouya, karaoke from a nearby bar was in stark contrast to the scene just a few yards away.

“Couldn’t they just turn it down a little?” one woman questioned aloud, but her comment went unnoticed by most.

People stayed on the scene long after Alisha’s body was finally removed from her apartment.

Once the Helen of the West, The Cinderella of the Caribbean, it has now become the hotbed of crimes and murders in the Caribbean. What a shame. It seems to me that the St Lucia Police Force is impotent against crimes in St Lucia. Another big shame. And so is the Government. We need to bring that Hanging in the Caribbean. That is what is gonna save us from the demons of the Caribbean.

actually they have recently implemented a serious war against crime. recently a few criminals have been killed and injured at the hands on police. and what happens.. the human rights are in a uproar… Its for murders like this they should be most vocal but seems their voices are louder when the criminals get killes. *SMH*

Where do we go from here, when test of faith is drawing near?

Touch our hearts O God, and guide our lips in prayer. Through Your grace alone, dear God, we can cast away those fears we encounter, and to free ourselves from the depths of deep dispear.

Lead us through this day of darkness, and such gloomy day, Lord God of mercy and compassion. Take our hands O precious Lord, by our faith in Jesus Christ; and guide us on our way. Give us the strength of Your Love, that we might find abiding faith and peace of mind; so we do not have to ask, where do we go from here?

My sympathy goes to the family and friends of such a beautiful young woman. May all of you find courage, strength, patience, self-contriol to deal with this tragic; and to trust that God will give you peace of mind as He unveils to you, the reason for this gruesome happening in your lives. Blessings!
