The Ministry of Tourism of Haiti, the Haiti Tourism Association (ATH) and the National Network of Solidarity Tourism Operators (RENAPROTS) have said the country is open for business following the passage of Hurricane Matthew.

“As a nation we are already working relentlessly to bring support to our fellow citizens in this difficult time,” the organizations said in a press statement. “We would also like to inform all international partners, and persons interested in visiting our beautiful and unique destination of the following: Port-au-Prince and Cap Haitien international airports are open and fully operational since Oct 5th, 90% of our Tourism infrastructure has not been affected and is ready to welcome guests, traveling to Haiti for leisure, business or to visit friends and families is a positive and constructive way to support the economy as it promotes employment and sustainability.

They called on visitors to visit the country to experience its “culture, cuisine, art & crafts, and historical attractions, helping us drive resources to the most needed areas in a sustainable manner.”

The organizations also expressed sympathies to all those affected by the hurricane.

  1. Gee we back our money
    October 14, 2016

Gason after our PM say he gave all you $1000 USD, you already calling him out by telling the world you country is already open for business? Boy if is true he really gave you all our money we need it back ASAP, because when it was us that was in trouble he cancelled our music festival that would have brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars, because according to him, he did not want the world to see us celebrating with kubuli and rubbing on women bootie while they had to sacrifice giving us tax payers money.
So now you all are opened and inviting the world to come you all are free to celebrate and rub on girls booboom? Gason give us back our well needed money because we still cannot pay our public work employees.

You really need to learn about loving others and giving especially in time of need. Do you consider yourself a Christian and a practicing one at that?
Put on your thinking cap if you have any. Approximately 1,000 of them lost their lives. There may be more including those who were injured. You should know that some areas of the country were not affected. Imagine the loss of life and property. How much do you think the cost will amount to?

Cancelling the WCMF was idiotic. So you what to blame Haiti for that?

“since Oct 5th, 90% of our Tourism infrastructure has not been affected and is ready to welcome guests, traveling to Haiti for leisure, business or to visit friends and families is a positive and constructive way to support the economy as it promotes employment and sustainability.”

Take a look at the last sentence above. Notice they hastened to reopen the country because it ” is a POSITIVE and CONSTRUCTIVE way to SUPPORT the ECONOMY AS IT PROMOTES EMPLOYMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY.”

So Mr. Minister for Tourism indirectly you are saying that when Skerrit shut down the country by canceling WMCF 3 months after Erika it was not a “positive and constructive” move, and such move did not support the economy, and it did not promote employment and sustainability? I concur with you. No wonder since Erika nothing has been done here and even three bridges that fell in the river are YET to be pulled out almost 1 year and three months after Erika.

Wow! Haiti is already open for business less than a week after Matthew slammed the island? They should now have Skerrit to see how they could be back in business so soon. I mean 2 months after Erika Dominica was still closed and had to cancel WMCF because he did not want donors to see men rubbing their pipe on women behind while holding two kubuli in their hands. Here is what they said and take a look at the date: http://www.caribbean360.com/business/dominicas-tourism-sector-ready-to-welcome-visitors-after-tropical-storm-erika
