Guyana launched a programme yesterday aimed at supplying families in the country with one laptop per household, an initiative financed in part by the Chinese government.
The so-called “One Laptop Per Family” drive saw the first 1,000 Guyanese families receive Haier Netbooks yesterday, with 4,000 more to be distributed tomorrow across the country.
By the end of the year, 57,000 notebooks will arrive in Guyana, and the funding has been secured from the Chinese government for the remaining 33,000 devices, for a total of 90,000 by the end of the programme.
one laptop per family, not the entire country of guyana right, the population of guyana is not 90,000 right,or am i reading right, just trying to understand the one per household and the figures that is being shown, first there is a 1,000,then 4,000,then by year end another 57,000,and then there is a 33,000 funding by the chinese,as matter of when you add up all the figures given, you get 95,000,am i right or wrong or my mind playing tricks on me,whatever it sound like guyana poorer than us,at least we buying our own laptops.
buy ur own damn laptop
That program is the first to be in SVG, one laptop per student…
All countries, big and small running to China for aid now. I even hear the EU countries and the mighty USA want their share too. I hope DA is not forgotten. Good job to my visionary Prime Minister in leading the way. China will never forget us because we went to them when all the others were still criticizing. Labour Power!!!
Maybe that program would prove worthwhile here so that there would be no more cause for the rampant stealing of laptops
So when that program starting in Dominica? I would be nice to own a laptop.
For China, do we have anything worth spying on?
If that was DA, the haters would come up with….they will be spying on us.Go on Q95 go on.
Well said, they would say the government wasting money. A bunch of jokers that on QFM
possibility!!!!!!!!!!
