National Security Minister of Trinidad and Tobago has resigned from the country’s cabinet after a report blasted him for allegedly mismanaging football funds in the Caribbean.

Pressure has been mounting in the twin-island republic in recent weeks for his resignation which climaxed when a North and Central American and Caribbean Football (CONCACAF) report accused him of mismanaging funds intended for the development of regional football.

According to the report, Warner and the former secretary general of the CONCACAF, enriched themselves through fraud during their terms with the organisation.

He is a former vice president of the world soccer body FIFA, who oversaw North American and Caribbean football for 21 years. He resigned in June 2011 to avoid investigation into a bribery scandal.

Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, confirmed the resignation of Warner following a meeting of cabinet on Sunday.

the national unity government needed jack to smooth over black nationalist voters, so it was calculated for Kamla to stick to him while her government was weak!!

That’s a piece of news we all expected. To me it took too long to come.
Many of us up in K-heights are aware of what is happening in our Roseau South area and we are very much upset with this. Its like ONE MAN DAT HAS TO EAT AND ALL CONTRACTS GO TO HIM and NO DOG BACK.
IT is TAX payers money that is being ‘raped’ by this gang of “chew your pocketites’.
There is no bidding! No transparency! Even the workers complain about short pay and no social security payments and a lot of short cuts!
PM please come and talk to us the people. There is so much you don’t know and this foolishness has to stop and we need a change. WE FED UP.

The resignation of the Triniman is quite interesting news to all we West indians and the circumstances around it. We as a party and government has to cleanse and protect our image at all level.

This should have happened years ago. How this man ever became a minister is hard to understand. Prime minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar tainted her entire government by continuing to have this man on her team.

I think the sooner he resigns it will be the better but if he does nt resign We do hope that the PM gets another Candidate to contest Elections for the party.

Mr. Warner resigned because it is ALLEGED that he has mishandled football funds in the Caribbean .In Dominica, we have a Prime Minister which is surrounded by many ALLEGATIONS,which in my opinion are worse then that of Mr. Warner. It is unfortunate that the Prime Minister will not even hold a press conference to address those allegations. I admire Mr. Warner for the actions he has taken , nevertheless,I cannot say the same of Dominica’s Prime Minister.

It is not simply an allegation!

He was found guilty at the end of an investigation. As usual in Dominica when it is found that politician has more property, house and land, SUV’s that their meager monthly salaries cannot afford.

When people question the source of their money, the poor peasants come out in force to defend the thieves; no investigations are conducted, thus they get away with thievery, and they continue to rule over people though they are criminals.

In Trinidad, they do it different to the way we let everything illegal slide, the thieves involved in politics gets away with the crime they, commits while in office.

The politician in Trinidad you are defending is a thief, his assets which include a more than ten million dollar apartment building got him into trouble.

The findings of the investigation is out, I submitted it on DNO, hopefully it might get posted; that is if it is not considered too long!

I cound not understand why, despite his good work as a minister he was not booted out of cabinet. This man was tainted. We tolerate too much crap in the Caribbean. He should have been gone a long time ago.

Foolish Jack didn’t and contest any elections in Tobajo. He goes up and is the Parliament Representative for Chaguanas East on the mainland Trinidad. Just follow the DNO link and you will get this information from any Trinidad newspaper.

Tell me people. Do you think that Ambrose George should resign or not contest again or be dismissed by the PM?

As a returnee…am reading quite a lot of anti-Ambrose comments ; am just wandering !!!!

However an happy that WARNER did the honorable thing and resign. He was an embarrassment to some people but I wish him the best. He did not resign from the house of assembly as MP; but did a so as a Minister and Chairman of the UNC Civic.

He was not that good as a minister my friend. He was full of chat and no action. Many of his promises were just that. In the end all he accomplished was what was already in motion by the previous government
