More Haitian migrants repatriated from The Bahamas

A boatload of Haitian migrants

Some 244 Haitian migrants discovered in a 60-foot wooden boat close to The Bahamas just days ago have been sent home.

Director of Immigration Jack Thompson said the 187 men, 54 women and three children did not test positive for cholera.

“They were in good condition from our standpoint. There were one or two persons who were dehydrated but they were overall in good health,” he told the Nassau Guardian newspaper.

Migration is a natural phenomenon even the birds of nature observe it.
misery is not the property of nature, is man that institutionalise it, words of the great,’Gorden Henderson;’
with hope and faith these people have the right to look for a better life for themselves.
you only live once, time is your previlage.

Fine then we will tell them go to your country. The Bahamas can’t handle them a country of just under 400k (which 100k are already illegal Haitians) can’t handle 600+ Haitians every month. :-| Whats bad enough is refuse to properly follow the law when they are here. And refuse to properly assimilate which is even worse.

Whilst people have the right to seek better conditins for themselves it should not be at the risk of destabilising or impoverishing another man’s country.
Haiti is the most populous carribean country. Any unchecheked and haphazard migration to any caribbean island will only serve to undermine that country. If they are really hard working they should stay and develop thier country, they have the human resource to do so. Runnig away havew not and will not help develp Haiti.

no illegal person has a right to stay in another person’s country. if the country extens some mercy then consider yourself lucky. Furthermore when Dominicans are caught in foreign lands they are deported.
Dominica has a small population so they hadly affect the welfare of a country. Haiti have nearly 10 million very poor and desperate people. They at the present rate of migration native dominicans will soon be marginalised in thier own land.
Right now local vendors can’t get a space in de market as haitiens are grabbing all the stall space.

Dominica needs more spenders not vendors.

why they overloading the boats soo much??

    • December 30, 2011

Regardless what one says Haitians are not welcome where ever they migrate to, they do not obey other countries laws, sacrificing/killing their kids, destroying families and nationals of countries in other to take over

The only island welcoming them is Dominica, because Dominicans believe too much in evil/voodoo

just take a look since these people step foot on the island see what is taking place in the island and it’s people, imagine going to the market and they are in control, Guadeloupe no longer welcome them cause the people realize that they could not rent their houses after the Haitians left, nor harvest any thing off their farms. Dominicans just a matter of time

Another thing with all the millions other nations dished in their country i just cannot understand, Haitians are very clever and fooling Dominicans letting them feel pity for them when all they do is destroying their families, one of my Haitian co-worker keep saying she being Haitian do not trust them at all

What nonsense about our population too small. St. Kitts and Anguilla population much much smaller than ours and they doing much better. Only idiots sit on thier a****s and expect foreigners to build thier country for them. Haitiens come to grab for themselves, not to build any nation. if they were so hardworking haiti would be the best country in the caribean. Is not poitics alone that cause thier downfall so be carefull.

send them to dominica .they are hard working people who can help boost up our agricultural sector. Our population is too small for any major investment and increase consumption. Our young men are dying and into drugs so we need a new set of fresh people to come in and work the land.

      December 28, 2011

…bring to DA for what? To cause deforestation like they have done in Haiti? You people really don’t understand the Haitians.
I have lived and worked with them; and I am not prejudice against any race, nationality, or ethnicity; but I will tell you this much: Haitians are parasitic in their approach to life. They do not value the basic structure of life and the resources necessary to keep it going. They will take until the well runs dry – not understanding that you must allow the well to replenish itself. There are a few who understand the cyclical process of life, but the majority of them just don’t get it. We must be careful what we wish for…

      • teej34
        December 31, 2011

You know Kanpeche, the one thing you said that has been troubling me about having Haitians in DA, and I don’t even know if it’s true here, is the burning down of trees. Folks have told me that they are doing that and I am not happy, if it’s true. That is precisely what has their country in a bind now, that deforestation. You burn the tree to make coal but you don’t replant, and now the hills are all brown, so if you spit there is a landslide. I’m hoping that isn’t true. I was at Cabrits not so long ago and saw smoke in the hills across, and I wondered aloud what it was and an angry man told me “dem Haitian burning down DA but nobody doing any fing”. I don’t know if he was correct, but I’m paying close attention.

Are you crazy or stupid? Why should Dominica burden it’s self to feed a mass exodus of Haitians while Dominicans are trying to find jobs for themselves. Please respect and honour your country and stop degrading it.

      • shop rite
        January 1, 2012

Whether dominicans lazy or not that does not give any foreign the right to come here and take over our resources which our foreparnts toiled and died for.
if haitiens are soo hardworking, let them prove it i haiti first, its a country about 10 times the size of dominica.
BTW why is it only dominica that encouraging them? is it because of wisdom or stupidity?

      @ VIP
      I AGREE WITH YOU
THEY HAVE A WHOLE SET OF YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN IN Dominica they finish with school and they sit the back side join gang and after when everything go wrong they are blaming the Haitian people who are working hard
so Dominican wake up all you lazy back side to work and stop blaming the people who want to work to earn a living tomorrow

You must realise that dominicans in America is america business. That have nothing to do with haitien coming here. If Dominicans were going to Haiti then it would be fair exchange. Is only when you all lose sweet dominica to outsiders allu will try to protect your borders, that time it will be too late. Already they giving landlords so much hard time with thier property refusing to leave when ask to. They keep threatening dominicans with thier voodoo at the slightest confrontation.
