More job cuts planned for LIAT

A new wave of staff cuts is planned for LIAT as the financially-beleaguered airline moves to reign in cost.

The Antigua-based carrier has scheduled a meeting for Friday with all the unions within its system to discuss the plan.

General Secretary of the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union (ABWU), Senator David Massiah, confirmed the planned staff cuts but would not say how many workers or what areas would be affected.

LIAT or LIE-ART,the only airline Dominicans has to depend on is unreliable. The downfall of LIAT means no flights into Dominica,no other airline is interested in flying to Dominica for lack of proper air access.Does that mean anything to u?

Yes, this is hard but ask yourself, is LIAT there to provide jobs or run an efficient service at a profit (..or, at least break even!). I do not see the need to maintain a fuul scale office here in Dominica for example, for what? Two hundred passengers a day, if that! This could easily be handled by agents, who only get paid by results. Cut out the fat and start standing on your own two feet. I challenge anyone to name an airline, owned by governments that is run profitably. Make LIAT lean, question every cost, so that at least it will have a chance of survival.

First, they should let go are the so called managers and supervisors. These useless and unprofessional so called employees. I think LIAT should just disappear from this planet. They need some serious competition to take them out of business and disappear from this world FOREVER. USELESS PIECE OF S….T

Those mannerless ticketing agents and their supervisors should be the first to go! When Liat over books a flight, they simply bump whoever they feel should be, I say bump them all and completely revamp the staff, they also hire the drug runner that used to go to S.M.A, last name rhymes with hard…How can you employ a convicted drug runner @ an airport? WTF? FIRE LIAT CEO!!!!!

Nothing new. LIAT is like a careless child who refuses to listen to the adult community but complains when see others doing well. Time for LIAT to buck-up or pack the hell up.

Here we go again, that must be the chorus for the song. It took a long time to be said though.

LIAT I would suggest to you to learn and adopt the seven “Ps’ “Proper Prior Planning and Preparation Prevents Poor Performance” Guess it’s too late for that!
