PNP group angry after Haitians burn Jamaican flag

The flag of Jamaica

The People’s National Party Patriots has condemned the burning of the Jamaican flag by protesters in Haiti.

In a release to the media the group described the desecration of the national flag as a terrible insult.

“Under no circumstances can such behaviour at any level be countenanced. Even if the Haitian people are angry about the perceived treatment of their team members and officials who were recently withdrawn from the CONCACAF U17 Tournament there is absolutely no justification for this ungracious action,” the release stated.

“We are however equally of the view that an immediate apology from the Haitian authorities for the desecration of the Jamaican flag by the protesters is required.” the release said.

The group said a regrettable precedent would be established in Caricom if an official apology is not forthcoming from the Haitian authorities then.

how the hell can you say that. there is no damn “we” jamaicans and “you” haitians in this speak for your damn self. i am tired of ignorant people wasting their time online with nothing to do but talk out of their ass when they dont know shit, enflaming an already tenuous and blatantly unnecessary situation. there is my dumb ass government bungling a critical health issue and calously talking shit afterward about how “we” jamaicans approach health care and “those” haitians not even realizing how their snide superious snivelling attitute looked on the international stage to an already hugely discrimminated against in the world media, further smashing what little enejoyment they might have had, an opportunity for them to probably focus on more than their current reality as the most popular oppressed and marginalized people. then comes a STUPID RUMOR about the haitians burning a jamaican flag or caricom flag. whether or not this is true, haitians have a right to be angry at the situation and how it was dealt with. however they dealt with it was their own business, however they express it, whether misguided or not is not our problem. our problem is not realizing that the shit stinks and it aint haiti.

p,s, ignorant jamaicans, remember what the world thinks of you too. remember that before you jump to conclusions without veryfying your goddamn sources!!!!

Burning the flag of a country of brothers is too much.you don’t do that. it is stupid. We both made mistake, and we both wrong. We need to fix it. Jamaican people and haitian people cannot afford not to be friend. too much in common. i don’t care how we are going to fix it, we got to do it quick.

heyyy Jamaicans, you had no reasons to treat your haitian brothers like that. if you respect them they won’t respect you either, it is for this reason they burn your flag.

when you asked them to left your country becuz of disease, you were speaking like they are not human, and they burn your flag to show you that you are not nothing important for them either.

so shut up cuz they have reason….ok

Haitians have reason to burn the flag of jamaica Because Jamaicans should not do that, excluding the selection of the tournament. It looks like these are all crazy jamaican, it looks like it nya forms no people in this country, or people who took the decision to exclude Haitians from the tournament came to smoke “krack” because they the have LOTS in their countries if they want the Haitians seek an excuse, we must first ca. Thank you

We have been and are being oppressed by other foreign superpowers. Yes still we never stand up for fear of them; however, we burn the flags of our own fellow Caribbean countries over a dispute? Well well well. Mental stavery! Emancipate yourselves black people!!!

They are stupid to do that. The Jamaicans are only concerned about the health of its citizens and other people in that country. Montego Bay is the Heart of Jamaica’s tourism and if a malaria outbreak occurs then their tourist arrivals will be affected. In this time of uncertainty people should come together not burn the flag of you brothers.

The Haitians are completely justified given the terrible treatment they have received from Jamaicans over the past many years.

Look at how much Jamaica has done for these Haitians. When they had the war & their neighboring country wouldn’t accept them Jamaica did & now they burned their flag. I think Jamaica should just send the Haitians that are living in their country back home & stop assisting them. Every country has their mess but don’t show disrespect to a country by burning their flags because this causes war among each other.

These were the actions of a select few persons. Why should an apology come from the entire country for the actions of a few? Does the UK, US, Canada and other Caribbean countries demand an apology when Jamaicans go out there and make a mess of themselves and their country? You people need to get over it and work on your reputation as a country first. Clean up all you messy front and back yard before you talk.

we all travel, and we make wrong choices all of us, stop talking division because the action of the Haitians were wrong. People have to stop expressing the dissatisfactions in such manner.

Apparently the team were sent home for good reason.

Within days of the team arriving in Jamaica some of the players were ill. It was later discovered that at least 6 were infected with Malaria (according to CaribVision news on Saturday night).

The Haitian authority are speaking to the Jamaicans to sort things out.

      February 21, 2011

did you read the very first sentence? or are you blinded by an anti-Haitian prejudice? It clearly says the flag burning was done by “protesters in Haiti” – here you go alleging that Haitians traveled to Jamaica and burn their flag on their soil.

Under no circumstance would I condone the burning of a fellow Caribbean nation’s flag, so I totally agree with the call for an official apology – but lets not try to condemn a whole nation for the acts of a few, and GOOD LORD, let us try not be prejudicial to our brothers and sisters
