At the side of the road in Rock Gutter, an area along the road between Owia and Fancy in northeastern St. Vincent, a single white shoe lies soaked by seawater on the pavement midmorning Monday.
In the raging sea nearby, books rise intermittently to the surface, only to disappear again under the white foamy water of the Atlantic, which continuously batters St. Vincent’s northeastern coast.
Here and there, every so often, a student’s knapsack rises to the surface.
Dear God, you knew that this thing would happen, but those people did not know! And You are the only One who knows why this happened–no one else can understand it. But as You said to the apostle Paul, through Jesus Christ, at a difficult time of his Life “My strength is made perfect in your weakness”
Therefore I pray on their behalf O God, that You will help the victims of this tragedy to come to terms with this happening; give them the strength, they will need to overcome the grief, the pain, and the sadness of losing their loved one.
O God I am sure that they are calling out to You, to be their shelter of this stormy blast. I ask that You give ear to their cry, hear their call, touch their hearts and guide their lips to speak their prayer of grief to You–and O God, show them Your mercy and compassion of Love; for they need Your comfort–without understanding this thing in their lives–I pray this in Jesus name Amen!
thats a hell of a thing doh…may the good Lord strength them all
So very sad for the Government and People of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Especially the parents and families who lost their loved ones in such a tragic way. The school children, what they have to deal with so soon in the school year. I do hope there are grief officers to help the children and families and country deal with such a tragedy. How scared they must have been during the accident.
May the soul of the faithful departed rest in peace; may there be more survivors who can fully recover and may God give the people of our sister island the required strength to go on.
R.I.P.
My heart goes out to St Vincent and the Grenadines. Similar situation happened in St Lucia and I can only imagine what the nation is going through.
