Bus overturns in Haiti, death toll disputed

A bus in Haiti

A bus overturned in a rain-swollen river in southern Haiti, and officials differed on Tuesday about the number of people who died.

A statement issued by President Michel Martelly’s office says about 60 people were on the bus when the driver attempted to cross the Glace River.

It said that local civil protection officials have recovered the bodies of 40 people and are still searching the area.

I have never seen any thing like this in my life. I remembered when we used to travel to roseau on the wooden trucks. The trucks used to be full but not to styfling point. there were nevr people sitting atop the truck. We are living in a world now where people have so regard and value for human precious life. People thik about the value of human life over material things.

justice i hate to bring it up,but the truck involved in the morne prosper accident, was overloaded, and as a result, caused the death of all those people,a ferry boat capsized between st kitts and nevis couple years ago,the boat was overloaded, rain began to fall, all the people moved to one side,as a result imbalancing the boat,it turned over, the people in the truck at morne prosper had to be standing,if you driving a loaded truck like this bedfords back in those days, everytime you turn a corner, the passengers had to be shufulling from side to side, that’s how i believe the driver lost control.

There is a saying that goes like this “when you have nothing to say it’s wiser that you keep your mouth shut”. A word for the wise is sufficient!
      Shame on you gosh.

but wait. what kinda bus that holding 60 persons? i mean thats somethng that clda been avoided. the driver was warned nt to cross the river but at least if there was less pple on board, less pple wld have lost their lives. hatians need to learn their limits. its like there r 20 hatians living in a one bedroom house with no bathroom. or 50 of them want to hop a banana boat n cross channel. bad things will always happen. c’mon man. them pple need to be a little more cautious and aware of what is going on. its better to stay back and take ur time than just go and so ridiculously lose thier lives. smh

Sorry to hear that man. May the LORD be with them.

Sometimes the drivers are more interested in the money than in their passenger’s welfare.
