Kingston, Jamaica – Members of the local church community have dismissed the prophecy put forward by an American religious group from Pennsylvania that Judgement Day is only 10 days away, and the Lord will return on May 21 followed by total destruction of the world by fire five months later on October 21.
“May 21, 2011 is the equivalent date to the date when God shut the door on Noah’s Ark, through this and much other Biblical information, we find that May 21 will be the day when God takes up into heaven his elect people. May 21 will be Judgment Day! This is the day God shuts the door of salvation on the world,” is an excerpt taken from the group’s website.
i wish people willl stop talking crap. every year some idiot says the world will end,. no one knows when the world will end. When crap like this is said, it makes me question my faith in religion. how will a single man know this. with no proof. just woke up one day and said the world will end? i remember this same thing happened on 2000 and 6.06.2006 some idiots will start acting like its the end

I would assert it would be wiser to prepare for death. People die at anytime, cardiac arrest, major accidents, stroke, man vs man conflict, man vs nature etc. This is what we should keep in mind.

So many things are going on now in this world, crimes, earthquakes, to name a few. We are at a point where this world is changing. The world might not literally end on the 21st of May but somthing will happen a change will come about. I believer the end of the world is near the end of our world, to bring come a new one.

I’m not saying that I’m believing what these people are saying about the end of the world is on May 21st, but what ever racial background Jesus came from is a non issue right now. His complexion whether black, white, yellow etc is not important but is what we do to please him. Debating where he came from will not save you ok, Is how we live our lives that’s gonna save us.
I understand what you’re saying, but when you have such elaborate lies being so widely portrayed, it has always been a fact that what is shown on the surface is a mere inkling of the root of the lie. I have always been a curious individual, never really being one to accept a human’s word as infallible, and I think rightly so. Hence, it bears to mind that if what has been taught for generations to generations as the truth has been proven to been a lie, then what about the roots? Can we trust that the rest of what we have been taught is the whole truth and nothing but? If we are being lied to about such simple things then what about the more complex things? As a person who has been lied to by someone I have trusted with my life, I know what forgiveness is but it is very difficult to trust again.

I’m pleased that most of the comments reject the nonsense logic of this prediction, but I wish this would come along with more people questioning religion itself, asking meaningful questions about why I believe what I believe, looking into the history of how the religion was brought to Dominica, what was there before with the Amerindians, what is the alternative to religious belief, etc. If you can reject this person’s nonsense, then you can ask yourself why you believe what you do, and why you therefore reject other things (Islam, Judaism, belief in Zeus and Aphrodite, belief in flying spaghetti monsters, etc.) by believing in that specific thing.
Don’t just read a book your slavemaster ancestors gave your parents’ ancestors and believe it is true. Look for evidence, question your own convictions, and then go from there. If more Dominicans would slow down and think about these things more, who knows what good things might come of it.

It would be skepticism. Being skeptical is the most logical thing you can be when you look into how things really work. Being an agnostic is a wise position, since no one knows anything about god or afterlives for sure. And since there is no evidence as yet, the likelihood is not in its favor. You can beleive what you like privately, but once you start forcing others to accept your beliefs as facts with no evidence to back them up, that’s dangerous and unfair.
I could join in and state, Oh no! Not at the weekend when Ontarians will be observing and celebration Queen Victoria holiday which is Monday, May 23rd. We call this a long weekend for the extra day which is Monday. I have a religious function to attend on Saturday, May 21st.
I have heard that nonsense many times in my lifetime. Those are false prophets. Their crap gives people something to talk and debate about.
As a child I recall one late afternoon some women were on their way to church. When asked why they said that someone stated the end of the world was imminent.
I also heard this a few times in Toronto. The world is still standing and many of us are still alive.
Anyway, as a Christian I reject what those doomsayers stated. We Christians know what Our Lord said: “Only God, Our Almighty Father knows the day, hour, year when the end of the world will come.”
Prior to this, there will be much more Christian persecution and suffering. The anti-Christ has to show its wicked presence and head to cause everyone to worship him, his godlessness and deceit, claiming he is Jesus Christ, The King and Savior of the world. Those who do not conform will not be able to eat, drink and buy or sell anything. They will be beaten. Some will die.
Keep in mind those who will accept 999, the mark of the beast.
Some of us may not be alive at the end of the world when the tribulations and fire and brimstones will take place.
Our Lord said: “Those who persevere, in faith, to the end will be saved.” This is the Word of the Lord. Amen!

I suppose that when God is really angry with people of the world, some for rejecting Him as the Creator and Ruler of the world, refusing to worship Him, teaching evolution and for instituting immoral laws, living immoral lifestyle, encouraging it, wallowing proudly in them as they expect others to approve and applaud them, he will end the world. This does not mean that He is not angry at what is presently occurring. However, a lot has to happen prior to this.
