Sagicor General continues support for national cyclist Kohath Baron

Kohath Baron (middle) spends some time with the Sagicor team in at their office as they take a moment with the Championship Cup he received as winner of the Annual Tour de Grand Bahama.

Top insurer Sagicor General has renewed its financial support for national cycling champion Kohath Baron for the third straight year, following the signing of a new contract for 2023-2024 between the company and the young athlete, who has now graduated to competing in the under 23 age group internationally.

Under the agreement, Sagicor has agreed to provide a financial sum which will support Baron’s training and equipment needs. For his part Baron will fly Dominica’s flag high where he competes and also has the option to step out to show support for Sagicor from time to time, in Sagicor branded gear as well as at select Sagicor events in Dominica and across the Eastern Caribbean.

Cheryl Rolle, General Manager and Principal Representative for Sagicor in Dominica was beaming as she made the presentation to the young Dominican champion cyclist. She said, “We continue to be very proud of this young man, who continues to work diligently to achieve his goals and represent Dominica. All of us at Sagicor General Insurance stand behind Kohath as he continues to represent his country with pride and distinction.  Our support for Kohath goes back to 2020 when he was still a junior and continues to this day as he seeks to write his name on the international stage of road racing.”

Baron, who specializes in road race cycling and most recently topped the medal podium at the 10th Annual Tour de Grand Bahama cycling event in the Bahamas continues to be thankful to Sagicor. He said, “I’m proud to be part of the Sagicor family, which really feels like family because the entire team supports me with every step I make. I am really grateful to Mrs. Rolle, who is like a mother, providing great advice and encouragement to me, since I began competing professionally three years ago.” Kohath revealed that he has loved cycling ever since he began doing it at age 14. Since he began competing, he counts as some of his proudest achievements competing in races in Italy in 2021 and 2023 and flying Dominica’s flag high wherever he goes. He is working toward achieving his greatest dream of representing Dominica at the Olympic Games.

Baron shared his social media handles and encouraged all Dominicans to share in his journey by following him on Instagram @kobbie_bb and on Facebook @kohath Baron.
