A number of small and micro business clients were given the opportunity to showcase their products at the 6th Annual ‘Creole in the Streets’ exposition held on Great Marlborough Street in Roseau on Friday.
The event showcased clients in the field of catering services, food and beverages, vendors of plants, soap, and other natural and handmade products, as well as seamstresses, to name a few. Essentially it is a marketing event where clients seek not just sales, but also receive feedback in order to shape promotion and secure orders.
“We typically hold it around this time, during the Creole Independence season,” Executive Director of the National Development Foundation of Dominica (NDFD), Cletus Joseph, told Dominica News Online (DNO) during an interview. “It’s a period of time when there are many people visiting, so we try to capitalize on this in order to use it as an avenue to penetrate the overseas market through our returning Dominicans.”
He continued, “They can…purchase some of the things they grew up with, for example, castor oils, coconut oil, natural soaps to take back with them.”
Joseph, who was very satisfied with the turnout, encouraged Dominicans and visitors to support locals.
The first-ever ‘Creole in the Streets’ event was hosted in 2014.
