Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has called on non-supporters of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) to join the ruling party.
His call came while addressing a Dominica Labour Party (DLP) meeting held in Portsmouth on Thursday night.
According to him, the DLP is the only party that is serious about Dominica.
“I am calling on those who do not support the Labour Party, let us understand it’s not every time we have to be preoccupied with party…we have to think about the country, think about the future of Dominica, be honest with yourselves and see what Labour has done under trying and difficult circumstances in this country,” he stressed. “And so I am asking you to come join us.”
The Prime Minister continued, “Let us form a government of national unity, let us unite the country in one purpose, one vision, under one God to continue to bring progress and development to the whole of Dominica.”
He added, “And so I am inviting those of you to join Labour, join us, join the only political organization that is serious about Dominica.”
Skerrit argued that there is a huge divide in the opposition United Workers Party (UWP).
“Half are happy Linton left and half are not happy he left,” Skerrit argued. “Half saying let’s run, half saying no we’re not running.”
The Prime Minister said, “We need all hands on deck, we need talent and skills at the service of Dominica.”
He further argued that the UWP has no leader.
Meantime, Skerrit recognized and thanked the people of his constituency (Vieille Case) who he said have stood with him for five straight elections and who, no doubt, are going to again vote him in as Parliamentary Representative of that constituency.
Dominicans will go to the polls on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

Frame-of-Reference Matters
A very disappointing display. Here we have a group of young adults who either have not learnt history or from history joining a wholly corrupt organization – DLP. The lowest hanging fruits are almost never the best. Unfortunately, these young aduts have only known one pattern of governance in their lifetime: abuse of government funds for personal and party gains, diversion of state resources, lying at all cost to gain or stay in power, cheating in elections, no public accountability for abuse of state resources. In fact, many do believe that the state resources belong to the DLP, rather than to all Dominicans… They need their share…
Hopefully, someone can educate them before it is too late. Dominica is not on this earth by itself. Political activities in earlier life, which appears as an asset, can be a serious liability in a later period especially as one attempts to navigate the global community without the protection of a government position.
Let not these faces be forgotten. Their names their contribution to dictatorship in this country. Last time dlp did something like that. Some people were allowed to reimerge into society. Do not forget their faces. This is what happens when good people let themselves be bought. Very sad.
Only the greedy ones that king Liar gives hand out will give support to him.

Prime Minister Sir, I would love to go hand in hand with you as per your call above, but I perceive a long, long strive to that call, should it ever come forth.
Since it sounds like a “One Government Policy”, it will produce discord and disharmony, since there will be a few who will oppose.
What we need, as you said, is an opposition that stands as “One group”, for Dominica, not a few men desiring and overnight fame, but a fame that they will have earned because of their work in Love for their country and her people.
The kind of discord, now in Dominica, is perpetrated by jealousy and the desire for overnight fame and fortune. A discord that can never attract sound unity–so may God Almighty have mercy!
