13 & Under Netball Festival to be held in Portsmouth this weekend

NetballThe Sports Division will hold its annual 13 & Under Netball Festival in the town of Portsmouth from Sunday, August 16th – Saturday, August 22nd 2015.

This year, the Anguillan National Team will join the three representative teams from Dominica, namely the Dominica Primary Schools Team, the Dominica Secondary Schools Team and the Dominica National Team.

A brief welcoming ceremony will take place on Monday, August 17th from 4:00 pm at the Benjamin’s Park.

This ceremony will be followed by the first match between the Dominica National Team and the Dominica Primary Schools Team from 5:00pm and then the Dominica Secondary Schools Team and the Anguilla National Team will play each other.

The main objective of the tournament is to provide the younger players with the opportunity to play competitive netball against their peers while presenting them with the opportunity to build camaraderie and long lasting friendships.

The final matches will take place on Saturday, August 22nd from  4:00pm with the closing ceremony carded for 8:00 pm where awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams, the winner of the Round Robin Round, the Best Centre Court Player, the Best Shooter, amongst others.

In 2014, the Dominica National Team was crowned champions.
