Cricket West Indies (CWI) says that its Board of Directors has ratified the proposed International Retainer Contracts for the upcoming 2025/26 season, which is set to begin on October 1.
Following the review period for 2024/25, a CWI release reported that both the men’s and women’s national teams have been extended contract offers, with Dominica’s Alick Athanaze making the cut.
The organization added that these selections were made based on players’ recent performances and their anticipated participation in forthcoming matches. This cycle also emphasizes the continuation and growth of long-term agreements, aiming to reward consistent excellence, offer increased job security, and enhance CWI’s capacity to retain its premier talent.
Miles Bascombe, CWI’s Director of Cricket, commented:
“We have prioritized both current form and future potential, while maintaining a strategic focus on preparing for major international tournaments. Additionally, we aim to provide stability for our leading players and align our development pathways with the long-term success of West Indies cricket.”

I would like to know which one of these players has performed better than Kavem Hodge. The only player to score a test century which was worth a double century for the blows that he got during that inning and he has been shined by Daren Sammy and Windies cricket. This boy has been working hard from youth cricket. Yet he has been shined over and over again.
Alick’s focus now should be the Indian tour which begins tonight.
I do hope that he has worked on his inability to concentrate, and his generousity for gifting his innings away to bowlers.
So far his average in test cricket is VERY VERY POOR. I hope he can at least increase it after this series.
Please don’t tell me that other players averages are just as bad. What the hell i care about other players. I am talking about Alick. OKAY!
MEME
Meme, sorry to say but he did just what we didn’t want him to do : gave away his wicket just when he was looking GOOD
