A pitch with a good bounce – that’s what cricket officials are offering for the third and final DIGICEL cricket Test between the West Indies and Australia at the Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau from April 23-27.
President of the Dominica Cricket Association (DCA), Emmanuel Nanthan, told DNO “We are very ready for the action, the pitch and outfield are in excellent shape in this great test venue”.
Nanthan said the pitch is expected to have “a good bounce” and will also offer some turn to the spinners.
He is predicting that it will be good for the fast bowlers and the batsmen will also enjoy the surface.
“We are just asking people to turn out in large numbers and come and enjoy this momentous occasion,” Nanthan stated.
Meanwhile the chairman of the Windsor Park Stadium Committee Lynford Guthrie confirmed that they have been carrying out some remedial work at the stadium with the help of the prison services to showcase the event.
Guthrie said the work was costing a “tidy sum.”
“The remedial work that we have so far carried out is in the region of about EC$160,000.00 and that includes the extra treatment that we had to do on the outfield, the painting, (and) retrofitting.”
He also mentioned the purchase of a new replay system, and more security measures for the players in the practice pitch area.
Guthrie said the “desperately needed” replay system cost US$7,000.00.
According to the official, repair work began in earnest when the game was given to Dominica.
It covered the outfield, and the players and official’s room.
“This is the final week we are 100 percent ready, work on the pitch is at an advanced stage – the outfield and the pitch are totally different and work will continue and won’t stop until the day before the start of the Test match,” he said.
Can anyone tell me where you can buy tickets? Do you have to travel to Roseau in advance of the game to get them?

Seeing that the match is being shown throughout the UK and the world live, Dominica is getting millions of Dollars worth of free advertising which can only be a good thing

thats great news we are having this test match,credit is given to the dca for the efforts they have made to make this match a reality,big up to the stadium management for the upgrading of the stadium by geting this replay systm which we lack for the international matches we had previously,anyway ill be there for all five days once i have life.keep up the good works dca and the stadium management.

Great job guys its all part of being in the business we have to spend money to make money so whatever it takes to make us an elite test venue lets not cry over spending money to show case our lovely country. The haters will have no excuse not to give us test matches hiding behind the excuse that we are not equipt with this or that. The money spent will far out weigh the exposure Dominica is going to receive all over the world just imagine what that would cost the tax payers. Now we have no excuse but to show up and full the stadium every day there is cricket lets show them nay sayers that we belong I will be there live and direct with 50 of my friends from the U.S. lets pray for great weather. The stadium looks good I imagine it smells good so bring it on lets do it for Dominica and lets be proud of our country. finally make sure we protect the expensive equipments 24hrs 365 days keep the sticky fingers away from our expensive equipments.
