Two volleyball players are to represent Dominica at the final round of the Norceca Beach Volleyball Qualifiers carded for April 10th to April 14th in Puerto Rico.
Yahn Florent and Arden Elmes will go against teams from Barbados, Trinidad, USVI, Guatemala, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and the USA for the chance to earn a spot in the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympics in China.
Assistant coach, Kairann George, said the team has been undergoing intense training since January 2014 and the two are being coached by Ray Robinson and Lenon Honore.
“Both players have been totally committed to the task at hand and have shown steady and significant improvement throughout their training,” he said. “The coaching staff expects that if they play to their full potential they will be more than a competitive force and Dominica may very well be represented in China this summer.”
George added that the pair qualified for the final round by placing second in the regional leg on the competition in St Lucia in 2013.
He added that the Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association is proud to be represented by the young men and thank the Dominica Olympic Committee for their unwavering support.
Dominicans are also being encouraged to support the two athletes as they prepare for the tournament.
