Shane Shillingford bags ten wickets in Test match

Dominican Shane Shillingford created history at the Windsor Park on Thursday when he took ten wickets in the final Digicel Test.

This feat has never been done on home soil.

He is the first West Indian spinner to haul ten wickets in a Test match since Lance Gibbs in 1966 in England.

“He is the first West Indian spinner to haul ten wickets in a Test match since Lance Gibbs in 1966 in England.”

IT SAID SPINNER….ROACH IS A FAST BOWLER.

Congrats to you Shane. His career in cricket started at the Nehemiah Comprehensive school with Irving Shillingford being paid by the school to coach the cricket team of which he was part. Discipline, which you held on to was key in the time you spent at the school. Shane has continued to be disciplined and patient and that is the key to his success. Many talented young cricketers played against Shane in the under 19 secondary schools cricket competitions. However the discipline required to succeed was not found in them. In spite of his short coming he took advice to be humble and patient. Great success

You know, I am here reading the news about Shane and it’s just nice to know that we have talent in DA. I can remember the days of Grayson Irvin Sebo who is right now commenting and a matter of fact several of our DA cricketers of the 60’s and 70’s could have played for the WI side but the selectors for what ever reason never gave them a chance. I do not want anyone to bash me for the statement I am about to make; but in those days the selectors thought that good players only came from the (BIG 4.) I would just like to congratulate Shane on a job well done. Now lets hope the batsmen can now keep their eyes on the big price. There is no reason why they cannot make the score with just a little nder two days to go.

      April 28, 2012

kemer roach is not a DOMINICAN, HE IS A LONG TIME PLAYER, HE IS NOT A SPINNER, HE IS USED TO PLAYING TEST AND ONE DAY,S.
SHANE IS THE FIRST DOMINICAN DOMINICAN TO BE GIVEN A CHANCE TO PROVE HIS CRICKET ABILITIES.
you should encourage him, maybe windies could win a game with shane onboard..

Why mention Dice and not Shanderpaul who was made a citizen just like that. Is Dice much less of a person? just asking.

    • Don't be discouraged
      April 26, 2012

Give him piece from yours! You all always calling on someone else to do things. Take initiative and do something yourself!

Good job Shane… BUt of you want him to receive land for this, don;t call on Gov’t or another business owner. DO it yourself. Bake him a cake or something. DO what you can. STOP TELLING OTHERS WHAT TO DO !!!

“JustSay” I agree, with you, if got 3 A’s at A levels, i should get a piece of land too.. lol..

Great job Shane! You made us proud though in a losing cause.
Last year, Chanderpaul made history by becominig the first batsman to score a 100 test runs at the Windsor park. For that he was rewarded with Dominican citizenship. Since Shane is the first to grab a 10 wicket haul in Dominica and Shane is a Dominican, I hope he will be rewarded with a diplomatic passport and keys to the $27, millon state palace.
