PRESS RELEASE: The Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association is preparing to hold two development activities within the next six weeks.
A workshop for scorers and lines judges is scheduled to be held on Saturday, March 6th at the Saint Mary’s Academy from 9 a.m.; and representatives from all teams participating in the 2010 LIME National Volleyball League are expected to attend.
The Association hopes that the workshop will equip scorers and lines judges with the knowledge which will enable them to perform at the highest level during the course of this year’s league.
Instructors for the workshop will include Marcus Blondel, the first Dominican to successfully complete the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) International Referees Candidate Course.
Meanwhile, the FIVB, DAVA and Sports Division of the Ministry of Culture, Youth Affairs & Sports are collaborating in the staging of a Development Course (in volleyball) for Teachers, to be held from April 5th to 9th, 2010., also at the Saint Mary’s Academy.
Teachers from a number of primary and secondary schools, as well as sports officers assigned to various districts are expected to participate in the week-long course to be conducted under the FIVB’s Volleyball Cooperation Programme, by FIVB International Instructor Chuanlun LIU.
It is hoped that the teachers will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills that will enable them to provide meaningful support for the volleyball programme in schools being undertaken with the assistance of a Japanese volunteer coach (Yosuke UNO) assigned to the Sports Division.
DOMINICA AMATEUR VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION.
get your facts and prove otherwise Mr. Blondel is the first. The other have said they were the first but can’t give any proof
How Can This Article Say that Marcus Blondel is the first person to complete a FIVB international referees course, when we had a level 1 course held in Dominica and Mr Blondel was not even in the top 5 .
This is what is killing our sport.
