Denesh Ramdin is expecting a tough battle when West Indies face England in the upcoming Test Series, but believes his team can get the better of the visitors on home soil.
The experienced wicket-keeper/batsman said the players are enjoying the ongoing camp and looking forward to the three matches – to be played at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua; Grenada National Stadium; and Kensington Oval in Barbados.
Ramdin, who recenty celebrated his 30th birthday, played a crucial role in front and behind the stumps back in 2009 when the Windies beat England to win the Wisden Trophy. He scored a career-best 166 in the drawn Test at Kensington Oval.
“The preparations has been good so far. We are trying to get all our departments up to scratch. We have a new coach Phil Simmons, and he has urged us to enjoy it, and so we are working hard to get ready for the series,” Ramdin said. “The last time England were here we won 1-0, in a very hard-fought series, so we are expecting another tough grind, but we are confident of beating them.”
West Indies will continue their preparation with Day 2 of their warm-up at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground on Thursday.
