Dolphins are Mackeson Off-season Domino League champs

Dolphins from Scottshead are the 2010 Mackeson Stout off- Season Domino Champions. They defeated Rockers from Paix Bouche by 580 points in front of a very appreciative crowd on Saturday night in Layou.

The scores as it ended were; Dolphins 4007 ;Rockers 3427.

The champions of the league walked away with a trophy and $1,000 cash prize, nine gold medals and 7 cases of Mackeson Stout compliments the sponsor HHV Whitchurch.

This is was Dolphins third trophy for this year. They have already won the National domino title, the Reginald Austrie title and now the Mackeson Stout off- Season. They were second in the National Knock-out Domino competition.

The Bath Estate Matrix won Zone B and Runner up of the league, Rockers from Paix Bouche walked away with a trophy, $500 and 5 cases of Mackeson Stout.

Layou received the award for Most Discipline team, while Rockers from Paix Bouche won Zone A.

In his remarks, Ian Letang, representative of the sponsor, said that his company will continue to work with Delvin Esprit, Coordinator of the league, in the future.

Esprit who made remarks at the ceremony, congratulated the winning team and participants.

He spoke against apparent conflict between the National Domino League and the Makeson Off-season Domino league.

“It is a shame to know that the National Domino Association is trying their best to prevent the Mackeson Stout off-season league, when it was the Mackeson Stout domino competition that was responsible for forming the National Domino Association today,” Esprit said.

He expressed gratitude to the sponsors who made the leaugue possible.They were  HHV Whitchurch through Mackeson Stout and Carib Beer and specially mentioned  Geoff Astaphan who played a major part in the competition.
