Dominica triumphs over Antigua in invitational basketball game

Johnny Alfred scored 19 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks

Last night at the Lindo Park in first game of the invitational basketball tournament between Dominica National Basketball team and the Big Banana Express of Antigua fans got the opportunity to see the Dominica Team in Action.

While being over matched in size and manpower the Express team put on a show that anyone would be proud off, the game remain close . Every time the Dominica team would take a 10 point lead Express came roaring back with some great 3 point shooting by Antigua national team player Marlon Charles.  But the experience play of Johnny Alfred on the inside kept Dominica in the lead.

Final scores was Dominica 75 points to Big Banana Express 62 points. See below for score board:

Dominica

Bernard Mills – 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 6 assist
Davidson Toulon – 9 points
Junior Isles – 9 points, 13 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 blocks
Johnny Alfred – 19 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks

I APPLAUD THE NATIONAL TEAM BUT GIVE ME A BREAK. wE PLAYED A TEAM FROM ANTIGUA,WITH ONLY SIX PLAYERS,NOT THIER NATIONAL TEAM> WE HAD A TWELVE MAN TEAM(NATIOANL PLAYERS ,SUPPOSEDLY OUR BEST ),BUT WE STRUGGLED,wE PLAYED POORLY AND WORSE OF ALL WE A WERE THE UNFIT TEAM.aNTYIGUE LEAD THE MAJORITY OF THE GAME ,WE dOMINICA DESPLAYING THAT WE ONLY HAD ONE POINT GUARD ,SHOWING THW WORLD HOW WICK WE ARE.tHANS GOD GOT THE GIANT<HE DEFINETLY MADE A DIFFERENCE ,joHNNY WAS GOOD BUT THE REST NEEDS ALOT TO BE DESIRED I QUESTION THE MOTIVE AND COACHING CAPACITY OF THE COACHING STAFF.PLAYING AGAINST 6 PLAYERS AND PLAYING A 2 3 ZONE WHOLE NITE IS QUESTUINALE.WITH ANTIGUA HAVING MORE PLAYERS I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT WE MIGHT HAVE LOST THE GAME .OUR BASKETBALL IS IN A POOR STATE OF AFFAIRS,THNS TO A SELECTED FEW(SHOULD I CALL NAMES ……………………

Our shooting could have been much better. Hopeful that Earl Matthew will light it up in the next game.
