Francis with some of her trophies

Francis told Dominica News Online the she couldn’t believe that her team actually came second place in the tournament. “We were the underdogs, no one expected us to win anything,” she said.

She had high praises for the members of her team. “It was a team effort,” she said.

Francis was 25 when she took up cricket. A medium pace bowler with a best of 5 for 27, she first played representative cricket for Dominica, before going on to play for West Indies against Lancashire in 2000; Sri Lanka in 2003, and she went on tour to India and Pakistan in 2004. She also traveled to Holland in 2003, as she helped her team to qualify for the 2005 World Cup in South Africa.
