The Dominica Amateur Basketball Association executive is expected to meet next week to discuss plans for the organisation of the 2011 basketball season, as indicated by President Dave Baron.
The president has he indicated that he has sent out letters to the relevant companies and government institution advising of the basketball opening. The president also indicated that discussion is continuing with LIME for continued sponsorship of the 2011 season.
The date indicated by the president to be recommended to the executive for approval for the start of the season is March 19th 2011. The president also indicated that the agenda for 2011 is a packed one, as the following will have to be accomplished this year (among other things which are priority areas for the basketball association):
1. Ratification of the revised constitution
2. Approval of the strategic plan 2011/2012
3. 2011 Men Basketball League and reintroduction of a Women’s League
4. The Windward Islands Senior Basketball Tournament
5. Organization of Coaching and Referee courses.
The president also indicated that the reason for this early notification is to avoid the rainy season and leave a reasonable amount of time to prepare a national team for the Windward Islands Tournament.
