Evaluation of 2010 rounders season

Representatives of teams that participated in the National Rounders League met at the Goodwill Primary School on Saturday, February 12 to evaluate the just concluded National Rounders League organized by the South East Sports Committee in collaboration with the Sports Division.

Although the meeting was poorly attended a few important decisions were taken with the hope of improving on the 2011 season.

The formation of a National Rounders Association was seen as important by the players who were of the opinion that rounders needed to be more recognized.

It was recognized that the number of players, both men and women, was presently at its highest and a national association would assist in bringing more recognition to the sport.  Attempts will be made to organize the national association before the commencement of the 2011 season.

The following were agreed on:

•    The tentative date for the commencement of the league was set for Sunday July 17, 2011.
•    Consideration would be given to playing some matches on Saturdays.
•    At least one training session would be given to the umpires prior to the commencement of the league.
•    The top four teams per zone would go to the next round to enable players to play more matches in the other districts.
•    Early attempts should be made to source sponsorship since thirty to thirty five teams would be expected to take part this year.
