Fernix Thomas is DCA’s new TDO

Fernix Thomas

Former Dominica and Windwards player Fernix Thomas has been selected to take up the post of Techinical Development Office (TDO) at the Dominica Cricket Association.

He replaces Delvin Esprit who was fired from the job.

The job was advertised recently and a few persons were shortlisted but informed sources have confirmed to Dominica News Online that Thomas was given the nod to take on the post.

A former right hand fast bowler and lower order batsman for Dominica and the Windward’s, Thomas, who is coach of the youth cricket team, is not without blemishes having been sent back home from a tour match a few years ago on disciplinary grounds.

“I just can’t understand how he was given that post given the fact that “Sabi” (Herbert Sabroache) was part of the interviewing team and is well aware of the many disciplinary issues regarding Thomas,” a person familiar with the situation told DNO.

DCA officials have confirmed that Thomas was the successful applicant but refused to comment on the matter, which like the selection of Esprit before him is expected to generate lots of debate and discussion.

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it’s a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from. – Al Franken

Focus on the experience he brings to the job.

To all the negative ones commenting what have you all done for cricket in Dominica ha? Fernix has played his heart and soul for thirteen years for Dominica. He has managed a succesful under thirteen team which has received the award for most dicipline team on two occassions and finished with the most awards this year. So please get something else to talk about and leave his past where it is.

Mr. Thomas had a disciplinary issue on some tour a few years back. Mr. Thomas is a growing individual; he learnt from his wrong and has since pledged to become a better person.
Chris Gayle likewise have had his issues, Some athletes have been caught and punished for using drugs, they pay their dues, learn, and moved on.
So what is wrong with Mr. Thomas again? He had some disciplinary issues some years ago? ok. next…..
Why are we so spiteful? Fenix is a passionate cricketer, he has his hurt into this game…can’t you not see past an issue he had some years passed?

SMFH. Why Dominicans are so vindictive? They just can’t see a man climb a ladder. They just have to look for the negatives. But all I will say you can’t keep a good man down. Congrats on your achievement Fernix and I wish you success. God Bless you always and just brush away all the negativity.

First of all, we need to know why Delvin was fired. Secondly, if Fernix Thomas has a discipline problem, how is he expected to command discipline from the team? Discipline is one of our biggest problems in sports in DA. God, please us …..

I agree with you natureboy12. I played with Fernix for many years and I am supprised at that nomination. Fernix cannot be the best choice that the DCA had, that is impossible. I know that a police officer was interviewed and he is a much better choice than Fernix. WHAT?? Fernix? MUST BE ANOTHER FERNIX?

    September 24, 2012

Congratulations fernix. Its a great opportunity for you. I know your love for the game run deep since back in our days a PSS. With greater responsibility comes greater scrutiny so be prepared, put in the effort that you would expect from others and you will be fine. Remember its about the game and the future of those you inspire.

I find we need to commend the young man. Give him the blessing and move on. We are too negative in this country. Do not like to commend. Young man go out there and prove yourself. God is your guide and protection not those jealous people.
