The Harlem United Sports & Community Club of Newtown has released a book which features the stories of some members of the club.

The Harlem Stories Volume 1 was launched on Thursday September 11 at the Newtown Community Center.

President of the club Don Leogal said the book is a milestone in the club’s history.

The booklet features four players and one manager: Cleville “Sly” Aaron (deceased), Michael George, Peter Greenaway, Oliver Grell and Fred Abraham.

One of the authors of the publication, Arlington James, said it took them over two years to publish the six-eight  page booklet which chronicles in words and pictures, the achievements of Harlem from the 1970 to 2014.

Parliamentary representative for the Roseau South constituency, Ambrose George, applauded Leogal and James for what he described as a wonderful idea and said he is looking forward to volume 2. He also suggested that the booklet be given to some secondary schools in the area.

Peter Greenaway, Oliver Grell and Fred Abraham, three persons who have been associated with the club over the years, were presented with copies of the book.

For a donation of $15.00, copies of the book can be obtained at the Newtown Community Center.

DNO, Peter Greenaway, Oliver Grell, Michael George and Fred Abraham were not only associated with the Harlem Football Club as players and/or managers, over the years, but they are four of the five persons whose stories (interviews) were featured in The Harlem Stories Volume I.
