Japanese volunteer volleyball coach assigned to the Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association (DAVA) by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Mr. Yosuke UNO, handed an assortment of volleyball equipment to the President of the DAVA at a brief presentation ceremony held at the Dominica Office of the JICA this morning.
The equipment which included balls, net, antennae, skipping ropes and knee pads, was collected by students at the Zama City Higashi High School in Japan, in response to an appeal made by Mr. UNO under a JICA programme “Smile for All in the World”, which was introduced in 2003.
Under that programme, Japanese volunteers in developing countries identify needs of the communities in which they serve, and seek assistance from groups in Japan to help meet those needs.
The DAVA President thanked Mr. UNO for the valuable donation which he said will be used to support the schools volleyball programme which Mr. UNO has been assisting with for almost two years now.

Better that they give volley balls than bring whaling ships.
Mr Sorhaindo you have given so many years of great service to the sport of Volleyball in Dominica. I thank you!
I really appreciate the work that you do. This is my favourite way to keep up with what’s going on in Dominica since work takes up most of my time.
I wish you continued success.
Kindest regards,
Nashida
