THIS PHOTO IS UNACCEPTABLE THIS IS NOT A UNIFORM,. WHY DO ARE OUR PLAYERS WEARING DIFFERENT SNEAKERS ON A TEAM THIS TAKES AWAY FROM THE UNIFORM AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED URGENTLY. eQUIP OUR TEAM WITH WHAT THEY NEED TO GO OUT AS A TEAM TO REPRESENT THEIR COUNTRY NOT THIS MULTI COLORED NONSENSE. JUST MY OPINION.

Congratulations to you guys. However i will say this: In 1997 I represented Dominica under 19 team in Jamaica and was then 18. The guys on the national team now were all older than I and non of them were part of the 97 team. It is sad that the national team today is made up of veterans only. This means two things

1} The future of basketball in DA is not bright
2} We the older folks are not working hard enough to mentor the young folks.

This has always been a problem with caribbean sports and culture. If the young are not encourage we will never improve and the quality of the sport will only go down

Mills & Garth are constantly on a basketball court working with the youth. So is Yudi John. The problem with the youth is everyone wants to play in a game, especially if a trip is involved, but no one wants to show up for practice.

If it’s not the kids, who don’t want to practice, then it’s their MOTHERS! The mothers here seem to think if there child has an exam then they don’t have time for sports & tell them they can’t practice. Those 2 hours the child isn’t practicing where are they?? On their phone, on their computer, watching tv. SPorts is not the reason your child won’t pass the test, it’s an incentive for them to pass.

I would love to see some young legs on that team, ofcourse i wish the team well but we need some young falks not only to better the chances to win but to motivate and inspire the young ones. The little ones (KIDS) can look foward to being on the team not when they turn 30 and up.

  6. Great!
    August 25, 2011

Great selection when we bear in mind that the youth are not disciplined and uncoachable. Anu game you go to goodwill it if you do not leave there charged or on a high you are in the wrong place. Yes men like kelsey have talent but without discipline that is all he has.Starz will never reach thair potential if they continue to turn games sour with bad attitude, violence, drugs and disrespect. Do us proud Coach Joseph and Mills…..

to me its old men i see in the usa once your 30 you going downward garth need to hang it up old and slow all them man need to give young man a chance thats why dominica will forever stay backwards garth of all people know that he should be coaching instead

When Garth is unable to play, he will be the first to step off the court. The team needs him, especially when you have over teams bringing down there pros for the games.

      August 25, 2011

Why is it Garth you’re behind? Garth is younger than at least 5 other players on this team. What center does Dominica have that can stop him?

For players who have oversea commitments to other teams, it would be near impossible for them to participate in the September tournament. Most teams have already started their season or are in preseason. For that to happen the tournament would need to be moved back to July- mid August.

most of the younger players lack discipline and are not coachable…how can you make a team if you’re not coachable? good job mickey in your selection, veterans and youngbloods…mabe next time we can bring home our foreign based players to compete…That would be very interesting. With that selection of players, dominica is going to win it all. All games by 20 plus points…we’re just good like that!

Not only younger players but wat about the coaching discipline. What is the track record of the current coach, what about d youger coaches like Earl Matthew, is he given d oppertunity???

Congrats and best of luck to all players who got chosen, but I am really disappointed with the selectors and guys like Mickey Joseth and the others. I am not happy at all with the player who got chosen we could have put some players like Dean Vidal, Dave Alexis , Lennin Paul and many other good young players other the and look there are the Pistons team filled up with gr8 young player Like Yannick Regis who is one of the leagues top scores and Kijuan Thomas and all of these players have played for the Inter-school team so they have the discipline to get picked. WE NEED TO THINK OF THE FUTURE AND NOT JUST NOW.

  23. Aint my fault
    August 24, 2011

Is not my fault I made this team at my tender age of 35, if I step down, step down for who. When I see the youth step up and take the mantle, I all forms of the game, then will I step down and pass it, until then I will take my God given talent n keep doing what I do best.

  24. Maya
    August 24, 2011

I agree that it would be nice to see some younger men on the team, but who? You need someone who is not only talented, but coachable, & will behave appropriately. WIth that last quality alone, you disqualified all the Starz players.

    • Gia
      August 25, 2011

If there was any doubt about the Starz, they proved it last night!!!!

Hey guys congrats on all DA National BBALL players for making the final cut.I played againsh Garth at the WINDWARD ISLAND SCHOOL GAMES some years aback. Am from St.Vincent and need 2 regain contact with the DBA or any Club team. Is Mickey Joseph the same gentleman once coach of cavaliers? Is the KILLER BEES basketball team still around? Anyone seeing this can pass on the info. My Tel 784 532 1314 or Email [email protected] or [email protected]

    August 24, 2011

Wow!!! Those are some senor looking dudes. Where are the young guns? I am sure that our local high school team here in the ATL can run these guys off the court. Common DBA, surely we can do better in enticing the youth so that we can field a more balanced team of youth and experience to represent our country.

  28. Ole Skool
    August 24, 2011

I firmly believe that the youths of today needs to be more committed to the sports on island. Cavaliers still doing extremely well as a cricketing body. Ole Skool veteran basketball team reached semi-finals without training for the season. Football alas!!

Veterans still enjoy the sport while the youths lack discipline and are demanding incentives or other forms of rewards for representing their nation. My 2 cents

    August 24, 2011

Why all these old men on the national team? Guys 40 plus on the national team. We have young guys like Kelsey, Shadow and many more from the first division who could have mad eit on the team. Mickey Joseph needs to make the proper selection instead of going with Geene, Toto, Mills and even johnny. what are these doing there?

    • ok
      August 24, 2011

I concur with your comment, most of these gentlemen have already served the sport well in the past; however, the association needs as top priority to consider succession planning for sustainance of the sport on the island. All the best guys.

    August 24, 2011

Congratulations to all the players. But frankly I am disappointed that more young players were not selected. We have to think of the future with these things. Guys like Toto, Guinee, Joebob, Mills etc are not the future. Mix it up a little better. There are really good players in the first division.

    • Great!
      August 25, 2011

come on!!! They are not ready to represent Dominica trust me. Basketball is not only about skills on the court but also off the court. Remember you have to be an ambassador. It requires discipline and respect for authority. Young ballers need to change their attitudes and the way they view basketball in Dominica before they are given the chance to make us proud. This team will surely make us proud…

    • Great!
