After competition among 55 primary schools, segment one of the NBD Primary Schools Football Championships, which is organized by the Sports Division, will culminate on Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth.
The championship, which started on January 30, 2014, saw matches being played in eight zones matches around the island.
At 12 Noon on Friday, the Roosevelt Douglas Primary School (RDPS) will take on its neighbour – the St. John’s Primary School in the 1st semi-final match.
Both schools advanced to the semis after winning their quarter finals matches played on Monday, March 17, 2014.
RDPS prevailed over Massacre Primary School (2 goals – nil) and St. John’s Primary won their match against St. Mary’s Primary on penalty kicks after their match was drawn at 1:1 after regulation time.
The 2nd semi-final match will feature the defending champion – the Goodwill Primary School and the former champion, the St. Luke’s Primary School at 1:00 pm.
Goodwill Primary School won over Mahaut Primary (3 goals – 1 goal) in their quarter final match whilst St. Luke’s Primary School made light work of Delices Primary School in their encounter winning the match (8 goals – nil).
Following the semi-final matches, a match between the losers will be played to determine the 3rd and 4th placed teams.
This will then be followed by the always final, which will begin at 2:45 pm.
The National Bank of Dominica partnered with the Sports Division in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to bring 2014 Primary Schools Football Championships – the Bank sponsored the championships to the tune of EC$15, 000.
