Sizzlin’ Sand Beach Volleyball event planned for Dominica

PRESS RELEASE: Dominica has been included as a venue for the Sizzlin’ Sand Beach volleyball Caribbean Sunsplash Series 2010. This was revealed by Paul White, organizer of the event when he visited Dominica last week to hold discussions with the Discover Dominica Authority and DAVA officials.

Mr. White was able to inspect a number of potential venues for the proposed event; and he was pleased with the MacoucherieBeach facility which he thinks could be developed into a first class beachvolleyball venue. Negotiations are going on with a view to creating three artificial beachvolleyball courts; however the appropriate sand would have to be hauled to the site.

The DAVA officials have expressed the view that the establishment of an artificial beachvolleyball facility on the west coast of the island would be a huge boost for beachvolleyball in Dominica, and would create the opportunities for regular training for local beachvolley enthusiasts, as well as for hosting of regional and continental tournaments.

Dominica’s tourism authority seriously needs to make a move to bring the highly lucrative sport of “ultra running” to Dominica!

Entry fees are typically several hundred dollars – And Dominica has one of the greatest ultra-running trails in the world:

    The Waitukubuli National Trail

Why haul sand to a stony beach for beach volleyball , when there’s Purple turtle & coconut beach with all the sand that you’d ever need for such an event ??

relax urself possiecan…. I believe that is an amazing thing that is happening for d/ca on a whole. I love that change and movement that is happening. I am a lover of volleyball, played it in my childhood days and still enjoy watching it, so i am looking forward to drive down to machouchie beach and have some fun watching the tournament. Great idea in making improvement to the beach so it will be fitted for such activity. More money flowing into Dominica and more fun time for Dominican youths.. LOVE IT!

Dominica is on the move. What are Edison and Prevost and Hector and Green’s problems? Whatever happened to the net ball stadium at Sockfarm? Has it been completed to satisfaction or what?
