ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Windward Islands duo Devon Smith and Shane Shillingford again featured prominently on the list of award winners for the Regional 4-Day Tournament, which ended last Saturday in Barbados.
Smith carried away the Sir Vivian Richards award for being the top batsman in the tournament. He gathered 700 runs at an average of 70.00 from 14 innings in seven matches.
The compact, left-handed opener was similarly the top batsman in the Regional Super50 Tournament which the Windwards won.
He also picked up the Clive Lloyd award for top fielder, having clutched 15 catches.
Off-spinner Shillingford and Jamaica left-arm spinner Nikita Miller shared the Courtney Walsh award for the top bowler in the tournament however, both grabbing 52 wickets.
Like Smith, Shillingford had singularly been the top bowler in the RS50.
Lindon James, a third Windwards player, captured the Jeffrey Dujon award for top wicketkeeper. He featured in 27 dismissals, comprising 24 catches and three stumpings.
New champions Barbados produced Miguel Cummins, the West Indies selectors’ choice for the Most Promising Fast Bowler in the tournament.
Cummins, a graduate of the Sagicor West Indies High Performance Centre, took nine scalps in the Grand Final, propelling the Barbadians to an innings and 101-run victory over old foes Trinidad & Tobago. He finished the season with 35 wickets.
T&T’s Imran Khan earned the Malcolm Marshall award for being the top all-rounder. He scored 234 runs and snared 20 wickets.

Awesome Shane! I have been very concerned about Kavem Hodge myself. This young man caught my attention a few years back. I know he is destined to great accomplishments, like Shane. Please keep us abreast on his progress. He needs our support and encouragement.

Congrats Shane. Keep on working. As I have always said, and will continue to say , you are the best TEST SPIN BOWLER we have in the region as far as test cricket is concerned. WELL DONE!
Can anyone tell me where is Kavem Hodge, and how is he recuperating? I don’t seem to be hearing anything about this young man, since after he sustained an injury in Barbados last year I believe.
I mean to see his under 19 team-mates like: Ronsford Beaton,
Kraig Brathwaite,
John Campbell
Akeal Hosein
Steven Katwaro
Kyle Myers
going to get their feet wet at the SAGICOR HIGH PERFORMANCE CENTER, and not even hearing about Kavem, it is a matter of concern to me. Wasn’t he much talked about in Dominica as the other accomplished cricketer, and a sure one to play for the West Indies? …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
CONGRATS TO TYRONE THEOPHILLE.
Shane you continue to prove your worth!Congrats again. So proud of you
Congrats Devon Smith. You proved to be a great batsman. You have also shut up the critics who said you were too old to make it on West Indies team again. They forgot when they dropped you was when you were in your prime, scoring the most runs on the Australian Tour? Some of them may smile with you because they dont know how to apologise to you. Keep it up.
congrats
