Third Digicel Test moved to Dominica

The West Indies Cricket Board today announced that it has taken a decision to move the Third Digicel Test which was originally scheduled to be played at the Guyana National Stadium.

The Test will now be played at Windsor Park in Dominica. The dates (April 23rd to 27th) are unchanged.

The change in venue is as a result of the situation in Guyana owing to the Government of Guyana’s push to take over the management and governance of cricket in the country.

The Guyana Cricket Board which is the agent of the WICB and the legitimate cricketing authority has been prevented from undertaking the necessary tasks needed to ensure the successful hosting of the match.

West Indies face Australia in five Digicel One Day Internationals, two Digicel Twenty20 Internationals and three Digicel Tests in the Digicel Series 2012.

The series runs from March 16th to April 27th.

you know i don’t understand why there was so much of big deal with that test playing in dominica,in reference to the antigians behavour,is like dominica is not important in caribean cricket,is like we are a second fiddle,we have made our fair share of contributions to the sport, our home grown players made us proud, and we sure are,and our message to antigua is,there is a lot more to come, and there is nothing they can do about it.

When Prime minister Skerrit announced to his supporters at the celebration of untruth in Lagoon that we are going to get Australia to play in Dominica he said it in a way as if to suggest that he had done some real tough negotiation with the cricketing authorities. But true to form that was just another of his psycho control of people who are willing to be lied to. People Dominica would have never gotten that Australia game if there was no conflict with the guyanese government and the cricketing board there. So this idea that the PM brings across that he was the one who caused the the cricket game to come home to Dominica is a Bold face lie. Well no offence meant but he had just finished lying to the courts about his citizenship so what do you expect? and so the masses were fooled into thy kingdom come alas poor nou

SIR?for your info I was at thge meeting when The PM made the announcement and what he said was that Test Cricket is coming to Dominica in spite of the Skeptics. They could have chosen another venue which has hosted more Tests but Dominica was chosen because of the Raving Reviews of our first hosting. So take that!!!

While I am happy to see the Aussies live in Dominica, I am saddened by the state of caribbean cricket and the way politics has destroyed our game as evidenced by the the third test moving from Guyana to Dominica. This sure does not look good for the future of windies cricket.
I hope this time I will not have to pay to watch school boys play against a professional Australian team. By this I mean, I hope the WICB put away their politics and include Christopher Gayle who destroyed the Windward Island bowling yesterday with a mighty 165 runs, which included 14 sixes and 8 fours.
By th way, why is our captain, Sammy not playing? I sit another move by WICB to further protect him? According to a live interview with the Jamaican media on the eve of the game, the manager of windward said that “Sammy was asked by the WICB to rest from this game so he could prepare for the Australian tour.” He further said that sammy was not sick or injured but would rest per the request of the board. This to me is a big joke because this is the first game of our domestic season and our captain was asked to rest. What is the best way of getting ready for the Aussies? Is it not to play especially against one of the best teams? My gutt feeling is, the WICB knew that Chris Gayle was playing and did not want him to destroy Sammy with his gentle pace so nobody would call for Sammy to be dropped from windies team. At the end of the day they succeeded as Gayle scored 165 and Sammy was not their to face his punishment.

If Christopher Gayle was wso honourable, why has he not apologise?

Bring back Gayle for what naaaah? Chris Gayle and some of the so called better players have been in the West Indies team for the past 10 years and is still blows Windies was getting. Gayle’s verbal abuse of the WICB, the Windies coach and captain in that KLAS radio interview and lack of repentance for it plus his apparent allegiance to his new master ie money and the highest bidder in domestic show pony cricket leagues around the world will keep him away from West Indies cricket.

With regards to those who support Chris Gayle’s actions, if you all are brave, attempt a stunt on your employer (similar to the one Gayle pulled of on his employer ie the WICB) and let us know how long it will take for your employer to fire you.

Gayle should accept the retainer contract if he is serious about windies cricket. It is his right to look for more money wherever he can find it, but he must not do it pretending that the WICB (who I have no reason to defend anyway) does not want him. The truth is he refused a retainer contract so that he can be free to go wherever he wishes to play and make big money. and he is making good money too. Nothing’s wrong with that, but do not blame Windies cricket.

God truely is a Good God. It was felt that Dominicans deserved to have a test against Australia and amidst the controversy see how easily it has come to us. If we are patient, whatever that is due to us will come to us if we truly deserve and if we ask of it in the name of the Most High God. We must now use the opportunity to further develop our facility so complaints can be minimal and we fill the stadium. Government and private sector should allow those with tickets to go see the game……. That would be nice
