West Indies beat England in World T20 game

An impressive English fightback went in vain as West Indies beat England by 15 runs in their ICC World Twenty20 Super Eight match in Kandy on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 180 runs, Alex Hales (68) and Eoin Morgan (71*) put up an impressive fight by scorching a 100-plus partnership to lead the revival of the English chase after early dismissals left the Windies with an elevated required run-rate.

Chris Gayle struck in his first over to break the solid 55-run partnership between Hales and Jonny Bairstow as he dismissed the latter for 18 runs.

Gayle has always been good at breaking partnerships.

Windies team need to break the habit of letting teams ‘off the hook’, after having them by the “goolies”, It almost happened again yesterday against England. After setting England a target of 180 to win, the bowlers started well by restricting England to two wickets for no runs and seem to had the upper hand in the first power play. Then there were drop-chances, stumping-chances, fumbles and misfields, all contributing to England’s fightback. Fortunately we were able to hold on for the win. If Windies are to stand any chance of winning this tournament, they need to polish up there performances especially in the bowling and fielding departments.

I think W Indies have what it takes to win that world cup
Their batting is excellent and their bowling is coming there.

D.N.O. should allow its readers to follow the cricket. Does it means they have to buy the rights to carry the game. Just asking?

sammy and rampul dont merrit a pick in this squad …. but a good match none the less

    • September 27, 2012

Did you follow the game or are you commenting based on the round up put by DNO? I guess if you had followed the game or knew anything about cricket, you would not have made that silly statement. Although Sammy has not really been in form, how dear you say Rampaul does not merrit his pick? T20 cricket is about getting early wickets and with England chasing 180 to win, it was Rampaul taking the first 2 wickets in his first over that won the game for us. So I don’t know what you talking about.

good win…Good knock from the openers. I am pleased that Charles got some runs.He is young and strong, and can hit the cricket ball real hard.

Your attempt at an insult is not really wise. Rounders is a good sport. Both cricket and rounders involve a bat and a ball so what is the point?
