West indies is not getting better, Both WI and New zealand ranked the same,to get better you need to win matches against teams higher ranked than you, just got beat by Australia and England. The fact is we need a wicketkeeper/batsman and a captain who can lead from the front, our captain averages 20 runs a game, happy to have gayle back but winning against new zealand is not enough to say WI cricket is rising again….

too early to shout praises in my view…Windies are still highly inconsistent against teams ranked much higher they will be found wanting..

major factor most teams notice is that windies are a boundary hitting team once a disciplined attack sticks to its plan to windies they will fall short

you cant expect to win by blasting attacks all the time its like basketball you live and die with the outside shot…you must have a low post game..

    these are key issues..

good series win for confidence..but this team is short on batsmen and a fit strike bowler..too many half allrounders that are too inconsistant..long ways yet to go.

The Black Caps did their homework on Gail and felt that in order to win the ODI series against the West Indies was to get Gail out early. The strategy worked for at least one match, but the mistake was to concentrate on Gail only. The fire power the W.I. possesses with both bat and ball, is the best in the cricketing world, at this point in time.Best has once again showed, he is the best and fastest bowler in the West Indies presently. The man should be a pernament fixture on the W.I. team.

Doc. You know, you may be correct in that the Black Caps did their homework on Gail and felt that in order to win the WI – getting Gail was number 1 goal. They may or may not have succeeded in doing that as I do not expect Gail to be the top scorer in every inning. He is human after all and will fail sometimes. Imagine that when it really mattered for RCB in the IPL, he did not deliver a ton and RCNB was eliminated. it happens. Moreover, it may be a good thing as Hilaire said that we do not have a team with one or two star players but a team that feels like and behave as stars. WI should be happy that Gail is there and performing well but when he does fail, as in the last game, Pollard, Bravo, Simmons , Samuel, Sammy and others much take up the slack. This is what I feel WI is learning to do now. –develop a team approach to winning. You are so right, WI is slowly becoming and will become a power house in world cricket in terms of both batting and bowling. I also agree with you about Best –Even when he started in the 90’s I thought he was fast –a little erratic but should be coached and kept with the Team. I am happy that he is performing so well that he could be entrusted with the penultimate over of the game. Yeah!- Best is a quick, strong, tough and committed fastest bowler and he should play in all forms of the game for the WI. We certainly wish the WI well.

      ARE YOU SERIOUS???
These guys just lost miserably to England and the Aussies gave them a run for their money but because they beat a wick team like New Zealand they magically become the best? Some of you folks need REALLY WAKE UP

Great effort TEAM Windies. Nice recovery in the batting after a terrible start. The Dear Leader Sammy marshaled the players and bowlers well on the field.

One more game in the ODI series to go fellas. A 4-1 series victory is better than 3-2 series victory.

    WI All in!!

Lately I have been beaming with tremendous pride and joy at the performance of the West Indies Team. This seems to be the beginning of a new era. It is not the one off-floops-chancy wins of the past. This is purposeful cricket. This is a team that has been beaten badly by all and sundry and has decided to pay back starting with a confidence booster series against New Zealand. This is a maturing team with Gale and Samuels, Best and even Thomas (from no where) This is a team ready to start the climb back up the ICC rankings as Australia falls and Hillare leaves the WICBC to be the ambassador of St Lucia to England. They may lose some matches here and there but they are generally on a long term upward climb. The team has depth in batting, bowling and even wicket keeping. The talent and skills have never been lack, we now need the commitment, guts, can-win spirit, the West Indian pride, determination, will, confidence, respect and discipline from players, coaches, management and fans …We will be back at the top not too long. Rally round the West Indies.
