go west indies go
I have decided not to discuss selection and the absence of this and that player beause nothing I can have any bearing on the team that will play at the World Cup. The team has been slected and this is the West Indies World Cup Team and we should support our team wherher or not ceratin players did not get on the list. Yes we would love to see the inform talected Samuels on that team also Santokie, BUT, the selectors would have reason why these players did not make the list. Remember where the competition is being hosted and trying too many new players and one coming from a two year absence in a world cup is not the smartest thing to do. Let us not allow emotions and the T20 to distract us from the facts: This is World Cup and it is 50 over a side not 20 and bowlers will have to bat and score runs and to field for a longer period in conditions that are not too friendly. I think that this team can bring home the trophy if they can stiffle the free flow of the bat of the star batters of the opposition teams. Russel can hit that ball a long way and he got pace and control, Barath canot make the first team, beacaue against the SA we need to have bowling options or we risk getting stuck in quick sand if one or two of our bowlers find the going to be rough. Gayle needs an experience partner to keep him extra cool and focussed and one wwith whom he can build a openning partnership on which the team can build. Sarwan needs alot of batting and opeening the inning is his best chance to bat long and have the timne to get his form no pressure just stay at the wicket. Lets support our team people, for once lets just suport our team! Dont foeget they got a MASTER as Team Manager and that too is a source of inspiration.Peace.
I would like to wish Sammy well as Captain in this pressure situation, and to advise him to show true leadership on and off the field, to be proactive on the field not to allow partnerships to grow before setting traps, to deny the most prolific batters of the opposition teams the strike thus allowing more dot balls and less boundaries. To the bowlers I need to say if you are delivering balls that are earning the opposition singles do not change anything that you doing to give them gifts of boundaries, to give a batter problems you do not have to be extremely fast just deliver the balls on a line and length that makes it difficult to hit you. The batters should hold their own and eliminate that culture where if we do not hit a boundary we cannot score runs, keep the strike rotating and stop hitting deliveries with brute strengh but straight to a fielder, learn to place the balls in the gaps, and take advantage of the batting power plays. Now for MY first eleven against SA in batting order: Gayle, Sarwan, Daren Bravo, Chanderpaul, Dwayne Bravo, Sammy, Pollard, Baugh, Benn, Rampaul, Roach. WI need to use Pollard where the situation presents itself to change the line up as he is not the best to bat in the end when the team needs runs. He should be used as a Hit-Man at all times reserving one of the batting power plays for when he is at the crease. The team should always keep the run per over ( run rate) in mind while not losing wickets and we will stand a chance to bring home the trophy. I hope that someone in mangement reads my comments. Peace.
west indies? no chance!!! inexperienced captain…we need a proper wicket-keeper batsman. the bowling is weak!!! if gayle fail it’s all over in a flash. Am just being honest but my support is there 100%.
still don,t see why nikita miller,
My Eleven for the first match
( 1) Chris Gayle
(2) Adrian Barath
(3) Darren Bravo
(4) Ramnaresh Sarwan
(5) Shivnarine Chanderpaul
(6) Dwayne Bravo
(7) Kieron Pollard
(8) Carlton Baugh
(9) Darren Sammy
(10) Sulieman Benn
(11) Kemar Roach
Their shoul be a place for young simmons but just keep on working hard simmons.
Marlon Samuels and Lyndl Simmons should be in. I would go with Thomas of the Leewards Islands as Keeper. The bowling looks weak to me but not sure which other bowler(s) to include.
no thomas baugh is good
Let’s go Windies will be loosing sleep for u so let’s go!! Welcome back Sarwan time to prove to the selectors that u have wat it takes to never get dropped again n get a retainer
Wish the Windies team all the best in the 2011 Cricket World Cup. I trust they approach the World Cup with the belief that they could emerge champions through hard work and determination.
Marlon Samuels for Chanderpaul and Nelon Pascal for Kemar Roach would have provided West Indies with a better line up.
Lendl Simmons would be a better selection than Sarwan
Where is Marlon Samuels???? Our selectors have failed the region again and may have made a definite stride in preventing us from acquiring the world cup. It is unfortunate!!!!!
where our man???
who is our man?
After watching Marlon Samuels bat in the T20 series so far, it is difficult to understand why he is not included in the squad. I thought that he has already served his ICC ban and is now eligible to play for the Windies again. Am i the only one to see this oversight?
Marlon Samuels was not part of the 30 man preliminary squad the WICB selected almost a month ago to prepare for the World Cup. This fifteen man Windies world cup squad announced today was selected from that 30 man group. Hopefully Marlon will do well in the upcoming regional four day tournament and get a chance to play for the Windies when Pakistan and India tour the Caribbean later this year.
he was never part of the original 30 man squad remember that
The WC provisional squad was chosen before this tournament. Since Samuels wasn’t in the original 30 his T20 form makes no difference
yes u are .marlon need more time ,he must play the first class tournament.then????????
i strongly belive that the west indies cricket selectors are biass and the team should behave included santokie 2marlon samules.
The team looks good on paper. West Indians just has to hope that they play well.
