St Maarten Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs said she was “shocked and concerned” about the arrest of Member of Parliament Rolando Brison as part of a corruption and bribery probe.
Brison, who is the leader of the United Peoples Party (UP), was arrested on Friday as part of an anti-corruption operation called “Lissabon” but he was later released.
The St Maarten Prosecutor’s Office said Brison, who is suspected of taking bribes and abusing his position, “remains a suspect in the ongoing criminal investigation”.

I am surprised you did not know IBO France does live in Dominica.It is easy to know because of the stupidness they post on DNO and the foolishness they say on the media whore station.If you listen people like Gabriel Christian,Irvin Andre,Dale Dangleben,Francisco and IBO are ignorant as to what is happening in Dominica.None of them have a business in Dominica,they together have not employed a single person,yet they want to dictate to us what we should do and not do.A handful of disgruntled UWP aholes,led by a Jacka judge,anybody who want to destroy our country is an enemy of the Clown.They go to a foreign,they work hard to build the country,they pay taxes to buy arms and ammunition to murder innocent man,woman and children.They have nothing in Dominica,now they are struggling in the foreign country they was to become prodigal sons.Jonathan Y St Jean is 71 years old he should return to the land of his birth,to enjoy our fresh fish, fruits and vegetables and to drink a coco jelly.
The prime minister must be a comedian. It would not surprise me that greater than 90% of the politicians in the Caribbean are corrupt. I might have said it before, but my friend has businesses throughout the Caribbean and he told me he cannot get anything done without paying a bribe.
We have a very tight group of friends who went to university together so every now and then we get together on WhatsApp video chat since we are in different parts of the world. In one of the islands, he was asked by a government minister to bid on a project for which he has zero expertise or experience. The minister gave him the inside scoop and insisted he bid and lo and behold he won the contract. The only condition was that he kick back a portion to the minister. He subcontracted the project, got his cut and gave the minister his share.

Honesty is not a strong suit of our politicians. That’s indisputable. These politicians are a self-serving set of unscrupulous hoarders. Their primary reason for their involvement in politics is not to enrich the lives of their constituents but to make themselves filthy rich.
Let’s take Dominica. If there were robust and fearless investigative journalism and not this lax rule of law in Dominica, many of the cabinet members would be sitting in a jail cell instead of in government.
